Deadliest Catch: The Game debuts on PC and is heading towards consoles

Deadliest Catch: The Game, a simulator of the king crab fishing boat makes its debut on PC. The release date for Steam Early Access is set to November 14 this year. This simulator, based on the popular documentary series by Discovery Channel, is also scheduled to appear on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2020.

The studio Moonlit S.A., with headquarters in Cracow (Poland), is developing the new simulator and the publisher is Ultimate Games S.A.

Created in cooperation with the Discovery Channel and Discovery Game Studios, the game is a realistic 3D simulator with extensive management elements, in which the player takes on the role of a special fishing vessel skipper (the so-called crab hunter).

The gameplay includes both fishing for king crabs in the Bering Sea and a whole range of additional activities (e.g. preparing the trip and maintaining the bearing). The title also offers a system of dynamic weather conditions and realistic water physics.

Deadliest Catch is one of the few documentary series which constantly enjoy high popularity. This is confirmed by the very fact that it has been broadcast since 2005. Deadliest Catch: The Game will faithfully mirror the conditions known from the program. We placed emphasis on the precision of depiction, a high level of realism and attention to detail. The gameplay will be sophisticated, but at the same time accessible. While developing this simulator, we also used the experience gained through creating and publishing one of the best-rated fishing games in the history of the Steam platform, which is Ultimate Fishing Simulator” – says Mateusz Zawadzki, CEO of Ultimate Games S.A.

After a successful campaign on the crowdfunding platform KickStarter, Deadliest Catch: The Game debuts in the early access phase. The title will be further expanded over the next months. The plans include creating new crew management options and additional vessel development options. The creators are also preparing e.g. a career mode and additional elements for personalizing ships.

Main features of Deadliest Catch: The Game:

  • advanced methods for fishing king crabs;
  • realistic gameplay;
  • expanded elements of ship and crew management;
  • system for dynamic weather conditions;
  • advanced water physics;

The release date for Steam Early Access is set to November 14, 2019. At the same time, a free demo version will be available. The development of the game is scheduled to be completed by April 2020. In the following months, Deadliest Catch: The Game will also feature on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
