REVIEW : Book of Demons (PC)

Book of Demons, developed by Thing Trunk is a hack and slash game with strategy.

The core mechanics of Book of Demons is very simple and embraces hack and slash genre. You are assigned a mission to destroy all evil, so you dive into a church killing demons, very similar to diablo. The art style of Book of Demons is 2D very reminiscent of pen and paper world just like a book. The dungeons follow a linear path and to complete a floor you have too kill all the monsters and loot everything but you can simply advance to next level skipping some of the monsters.

You have various cards which are your abilities you can use when ever you are in a tight spot. Every card uses costs mana. Plus, as you loot stuff your cauldron at town fills up. You can cash it in at any time but the next time it costs even more.

The best feature in my opinion which every game should have is the time limit. You have the ability to set time for each quest and the dungeon would be generated according to that. This is brilliant.

The game design is very intuitive and graphics plus presentation carry top production values. Background music and sound fit well with the game and overall it is a very enjoyable hack and slash game. There is also the ability to let your stream viewers be part of the game, the can control various aspects of the game and you can set the threshold for which level of viewers are involved, it’s very cool.
