REVIEW : Bounty Battle (PC)

And im back with another review, this time we are talking about Bounty Battle for steam PC, this game was also released on other consoles liks PS4, XBOX and Nintendo switch. It’s a fighting game indie character game mashup so it got many people excited. The game is developed by Dark Screen games and published by merge games and I have to say the excitement I had was quickly gone when i started playing the game. In this game there isn’t really much of an explanation at all for why these characters got together. Developer states that huge vortexes from unknown origins have opened up and allowed them all to enter at the same time in one giant universe and now they are battling as they have bounties placed on them to get a hold of this universe which I believe doesn’t really make any sense. I dot know what thie idea was really here but yeah it failed miserably but whatever the indie characters have all joined together, it’s a dream come true right but not really because this game does not play well whatsoever

REVIEW : Bounty Battle (PC)

So first we’ll take a look at good parts. It’s the fact that all of these characters are in fact in one game is actually quite good despite the weird story explanation you get character from guacamelee you have dead cells represented here, awesome nuts axiom verge that’s gambit and many more. Tons of good indie games are on display ere only if they all were put in a better game. While developers say that they were inspired by some great action fighting games like street fighter and many more. Unfortunately this game has no such quality and doesn’t feel anything like those games in any real way whatsoever. This game paints a very broken image of itself with a random and weird backstory with no cohesions or any fluidity to its combat.

REVIEW : Bounty Battle (PC)

Coming on to the combat system of the game for one you get a life bar “Thank god for that” as you’d expect and as it gets lower you take more damage and the character that you have chosen will start to glitch out a bit which I don’t why is happening, and only god knows why they went with this idea but it sucks a big time. As you are dishing out damage or taking it you will eventually er some bounty points. These points serve 2 purpose one is you can unlock a minion who will join you in fights but doesn’t really do much and 2nd is you can unlick additional attacks which comes in handy and are a better choice than unlocking a  minion seriously. The idea is that this bounty character will allow you to earn a bigger bonus the longer they are engaged in combat. Outside of that you get pretty standard movements like ability to jump and double jump with the ability to perform some air attacks as well as standard ground attacks there is nothing new in this except that there is no blocking in this game all you do is a step a little back and try to dodge the attack direct towards you. It’s not really effective you will skip it most of the time. ,most of the player will focus on straight  attacking rather than trying to dodge it by going a small step back. I found rolling was better rather than going back it created an opportunity to attack. Also what caught my eye was a teleport sort of thing you don’t really go behind you opponent this could have been something great but they kind ruined it.  Whatever mechanism you choose to use you will see that it consumes some energy and you can see that in energy meter at the bottom. One concept that caught my eye was the fact that if you spam out of a certain attack you will lose those bounty points that are incentives to get that character back in its not that helpful but kind of a neat and new concept. There are few other things like ultimate attacks, characters have unique abilities which is good

REVIEW : Bounty Battle (PC)

But the real problem with this game is nothing feels fluid and it doesn’t feel like its fun at all at certain times. This game really doesn’t feel fun the battles look and sound and feel so lifeless these are some of the most iconic characters which just seem to go to waste, none of their abilities pop out and combat is sluggish just boring. You will think that open and closed battle fields will add some nice touch to it but no its not good. The game itself is so boring that it needs major improvements in ways to express characters.

there are only a few game modes in this game you get a few including a tournament, story like mode, a versus mode if you want to go up against 4 players, a challenge mode which is more of a boring combat and training room where you can get a hang of this game. And this is really it there is no online features the game is just really empty. Graphically developers had so much to work with such great characters but it all went to waste even the soundtrack which you think should be great is merely ok you can try to look at this game again and again but its not exciting its just plain simple boring.

REVIEW : Bounty Battle (PC)

To sum Bounty Battle is one of the coolest ideas for a game that you will come across after soo long, which is partly why you will feel disappointed. This game is an absolute mess.

review-bounty-battle-pcThe presentation is terrible, the character models are laughable, the systems are confusing, Given the rich roster of wonderful indie characters, this should have been a contender. Instead, this fighter's career is over before the bell even rang so game needs a lot of improvements in order to be what it could have been.
