REVIEW : Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide (PS5)

Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide is developed by Muddasheep and launched by Sometimes You. The game begins with you and your friend in a jungle. The forest seems different to you and you hear eerie sounds one day. There are wisp-like spirits roaming around and you are frightened. These  spirits are lost and want to retreat to their cavern . You and your friend are supposed to guide them and help them to go home.

REVIEW : Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide (PS5)

You can choose either to be Catty or Batty . You will then be given a mission to build the way for the spirit which will complete over a journey of thirty levels.  You have to place carton boxes in a grid and guide them in a particular direction and they will follow those boxes. You have to take them to a rainbow-like thing which signifies the exit.  The levels in the beginning are just as simple as they sound. But with succeeding levels , the game poses new hurdles making it harder. The spirits cannot pass through the eye flowers. A fox can come and intervene your progress by sleeping in your box. You will meet some star-rain, leaves in the forest or conveyor-belt-like places. The approach of this game is fairly different and various obstacles and challenges are constantly added as you go further.

REVIEW : Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide (PS5)

Mostly ,things are simple and obvious. There are puzzles and side quests to tackle . The gameplay is pretty simple and you have to keep moving the boxes with arrows on them. The tutorial is to the point and the story is amusing but does not make much sense . it is fine to make faults as you can amend them as well. You can even choose the colour of game mode out of the six colours that are provided. You place the boxes  , create the way and then press X to let the spirit free. If the path is correct , the spirits will be able to get through and you will be on another level.

REVIEW : Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide (PS5)

Catty and Batty is like Merry Go Round and you do not know what is waiting for you on the other end. The quirky part of this game is that everything is hand drawn and in black and white monochromatic scheme. There is a fun kaleidoscope level between levels which makes things chaotic. The simple approach and simple drawings does not mean that the game is easy.  As the level increases , it gets really complicated to find the path . In succeeding levels you will be given limited boxes and that will make the difficulty level go up. There is a piano playing in the background throughout the game . Also , spirits make musical notes which are sweet to hear. Catty & Batty: The Spirit Guide doesn’t feel like a co-op game. It’s better off as a single player game with a handful of co-op levels. There are a lot of ways to solve the puzzles but you have to master the best one. So you can improve with each level . It is a user-friendly game . Also there is no chance of losing .
