REVIEW : Fobia – St. Dinfna Hotel (PS5)

Fobia – St. Dinfna Hotel, created by the Brazilian studio Pulsatrix, intends to bring to life the myths associated with the municipality of Treze Tlias, which is situated in the state of Santa Catarina. I’ll admit that after finishing Phobia, I had no interest in learning more about this city, but it was fascinating to observe how each detail connected the stories’ past and present.

The St. Dinfina Hotel is located in Treze Trilhas and is an opulent location that is the focus of many legends, including ghostly activity and inexplicable disappearances. Amateur journalist Roberto Leite Lopes journeys to Santa Catarina in an effort to break the story.

We constantly play in subjective view, and we have a certain number of storage spaces for objects that we can expand if we find the right items.

Roberto Leite Lopes is a recently graduated journalist whose passion is investigative journalism. His story is told in Phobia – St. Dinfna Hotel. He accepts Stephanie’s invitation to travel to Thirteen Tracks to look into the eerie happenings and disappearances at this creepy motel as his first exclusive piece.

Roberto awakens in a hotel that has been completely wrecked by an explosion and is teeming with strange creatures after facing a mystery occurrence. He must now escape this location and inform the public of the atrocities he has witnessed. We can fight terrible enemies, as is customary in survival horror, but it’s critical to aim accurately and avoid wasting ammunition because it’s quite rare.

When the character utilises weapons to defend himself, the tense atmosphere is lessened. Despite having a small selection, there are enough of them. All of the weapons you can employ, including pistols, shotguns, machine guns, and revolvers, can be improved. Of course, each weapon has a unique set of characteristics, so it’s critical to save ammunition.

When reality is turned upside down as a result of his discovery of a camera that displays alternate timelines, a fanatical cult, human experimentation, and apparitions roaming the corridors, his investigative talents will be needed not only to find the truth but also to survive.

The campaign’s duration reflects how extensive the content is. The story can be finished in as little as 10 hours, but you won’t have to worry about figuring out every puzzle or tracking down every document. The time can be readily extended if the player gives it their all.

As the past, present, and future converge, solve puzzles and scour the environment for anything to halt their search. I can guarantee with assurance that Phobia – St. Dinfna Hotel won’t let you down if you enjoy riddles in your horror games. There are a lot of riddles to solve, both primary and secondary, that will grant you access to things you need to keep the adventure going and upgrade your gear.

The use of the camera, which is somewhat similar to the camera obscura in Fatal Frame, is a different point. However, you can now discover previously concealed routes and things that weren’t there before really using it to catch ghosts.

Even after playing the same game for hours on end, I was still astounded by the minute details that Pulsatrix managed to implement in each component of the work. The ray trying to trace impacts on the floor, in the dirt, in the water flowing down the drain pipe, the river… everything is so beautifully done and stunning.

The game’s inventive exploration of the secrets is another standout feature. The solution to a puzzle including a narrative requires extensive observation and item hunting. Players will have to “think beyond the box” in regards to supplementary topics.

By the way, exploring scenarios always results in rewards for the player. The fortitude to seek the hotel’s most obscure areas paid off when they came upon ammunition or unusual items, despite the constant worry of coming across monsters.

Numerous points are also earned by the design itself. Phobia – St. Dinfna Hotel draws on Outlast and Chernobylite in addition to the obvious inspiration from famous horror classics. And that’s not a bad thing; rather, everything was employed and transferred extremely effectively throughout the story, marrying very well with the proposal to create it a title that generally keeps you on guard.
