REVIEW : RESIDENT EVIL 2 (XBOX One X)
Resident Evil 2 Remake brings back the horror classic Resident Evil 2 to modern machines and it is a modern classic.
The story follows Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in Raccoon City which has been hit by Zombie Virus.
Though there are some changes compared to original, but the game still provides the best Horror experience you can find.
You can select from either Leon’s or Claire’s campaign and the story follows the same path just the narrative is bit different.
The Game starts off with investigating a gas station which is filled with zombies resulting in you trying to escape. Perfect introduction to what lies ahead.
Clair Redfield is fearless and looks to help everyone in need where as Leon Kennedy is rookie who is just not prepared to take on zombies. Their stories inter link during the gameplay which keeps things interesting. There are 2 more playable characters which won’t be spoiled in this review.
Those who have played the original will still find that this game offers enough variety to be treated as a whole new game. The Police Department, Umbrella LABS and Sewers have been changed in design to bring the game to modern era.
The zombies in RE2 are not your traditional fodder zombies, they take more damage and bullets plus are unpredictable which makes every encounter scarier. The Game features a dynamic gore system, where you can remove body parts in such detail that it would disgust you.
You’ll have pistols, shotguns and grenades to fight off the undead. You can upgrade your arsenal as you progress through the story using hidden components. Item management requires your attention with you making critical decisions to take on zombies now or save ammo and deal with them later. Plus, to add to the challenge after you finish both the stories, zombie positions are mixed up and puzzles are much more difficult, the end game content is top notch here.
There is an abundance of hidden unlockable to find in the game and trophies to earn plus if you are a speed runner, the game will play the right strings for you.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is now the benchmark on how remakes or remasters should be done. If you are planning to bring old classic to modern consoles and devices, do it justice and bring it in the right way. Just like Resident Evil 2.
