REVIEW : Sonority (PC)

Sonority is a unique strategy game in which you must solve riddles by playing increasingly difficult melodies. We may alter elements of the world in this way, such as topographical impediments and abandoned platforms. Esther is the central protagonist of the game Sonority. The young lady travels to the gorgeous area in search of answers to her questions about its secrets and the disappearance of its residents. With the flute at her fingertips… and a raccoon with a voice signal… she’ll ought to learn the phenomenon. She arrives at the mystery rockery, pan flute in hand. However, her route soon becomes blocked, and she must rely on the songs to tackle the obstacles. It’s not always a simple task. She wanders through unkempt remains and monasteries on her adventure and occasionally encounters a talking raccoon. Tension will only increase until you are arrested and your devices are taken away, which occurs in scenes rather than on screen.

Even though this is a music-themed puzzle game, you can play it without knowing anything about music. I can’t read music and don’t know much about it, but I got the hang of it and was able to complete all of the riddles without using a tutorial. You can also change from notes to numbers if that’s how you like to solve the riddles. For good reason, puzzlers are a very popular genre. It’s a peaceful method to pass the time while you try to find a way to make the game work. They’re usually not very innovative, despite the fact that they’re a lot of fun. Sonority is a brand-new puzzler that is providing some much-needed change to the puzzler world. Music is magical in this unusual take on strategy games, and you can employ different tunes to aid you in your quest. Esther rekindles ancient songs and decaying pieces of art in a world that has fallen silent.  With the help of musical pebbles and a speaking raccoon, of course. The renowned music teachers, on the other hand, appear to have vanished.

REVIEW : Sonority (PC)

Sonority has a lot to offer in terms of story, but it also has something more to give. Players will be able to design their own puzzles utilising the same melodic premise as in the game. Esther, the protagonist, has the power to communicate with animals, and when one of her bear friends becomes ill, they send her on a quest to find individuals who can teach her the power of music in the hopes that she would be able to recover them. Esther learns about the school from a succession of narrative murals to investigate as well as educational plaques, in addition to instruction from a rather cranky raccoon. The narrative aspects are sparse, but they add depth to the gameplay and are conveyed in a variety of ways to keep things fresh.

The gadgets can also be used to open a series of chests discovered by Esther during her exploration. Each box will play a succession of notes that must be imitated in order to unlock it. Each one includes a tune that will play indefinitely as long as the player stays close enough. Musical materials can also be collected and set into stone tablets to uncover lore about area and the power of song.

These riddles can be discussed with friends and family. The chance to try your hand at these music challenges extends the game’s playability significantly.

The puzzles were a lot of fun to put together. They remind me of how to do a Sudoku puzzle, where putting in one number leads to the knowledge of the next. So, here’s the deal: fill in one note that hints to the answer to the following one. Finally, you’ll hear a lovely song that you “wrote.”

The puzzles became increasingly tough as I progressed, yet I never felt lost.

The story, in my opinion, provides enough context to keep people interested and justify the gameplay experience. Because of its simplicity, it can be corny and predictable at times, but I thought it endearing.

A controller or a keyboard can be used to play the game.

The keys WASD, Space, Ctrl, and number keys 1-8 cannot be rebounded.

It’s breathtaking to be sitting above the hill with the stone heads. I’ve even returned to that location just to hear that tune. The soundtrack is available for purchase on Steam, but I’m hoping it will also be added to Spotify, as I’d like to keep listening to that one song while travelling. The game is a unique and inventive jigsaw and puzzle platformer with music-themed tasks that are incredibly approachable. Trained musicians will find something extra to enjoy, but musical knowledge is not essential to solve these enjoyable puzzles.
