REVIEW : WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship (XBOX Series X)

Its time to talk about one of the most loved gaming series that has been around for quite a while now, there have been 8 games till now and 9th edition of the game was released in September 2020. I’m talking about WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship, the game is developed by Kylotonn and published by bigben Interactive and Nacon. The game was launched for platforms likePlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows. And we will be talking about WRC9 on XBOX series X. In compassion to 8th edition of the game i.e WRC8, WRC9 is a more modest leap ahead with several new additions in the game like new rallies and the performance of the game has been improved quite a bit. With improvements like a better sense of car handling and weight transfer, the game feels fairly similar to the previous editions, which makes the game an excellent entry point into new generation consoles. This game is good for especially players who are fans who are fans of games like this one but are not aware of the massive improvements that game went through since Kylotonn took over in 2015. But here’s a catch if you own WRC 8 you will be left craving with WRC 9 as there was so much more the game could have offered its players but it didn’t. thanks to the long haul nature of video game development and world-wide pandemic the game came with a lot of events that were canaled in the real-life hence stripping the game off its authenticity.

The newly added rally locations are japan, Kenya and New Zealand and it’s the only way you will get to see these cars in these events in the year of 2020. Kenya track stands out among all it’s known as safari rally and its just amazing. You will see a lot of wildlife around you in the race and it’s a major aesthetic upgrade from the previous games. The grass and red mud contrast beautifully with a lot of trackside features giving the game an even better look and feel. The game also features some high-speed blitzes which are real and authentic in comparison to the real events and these are much more difficult than cramped and twisty tracks that game has like in Monte Carlo and this is a very good addition to the game. The section of the new Zealand track that revolves around the north island is just magnificent and you will love it. While the tracks in Japan are much more technical and challenges you.

WRC 8 came with career mode which was inspired from both dirt racing and F1 racing and this was something amazing it gave the players a feeling that they had a whole racing team to manage and WRC 9 feels the same way in this case. Another good thing is that now the staff doesn’t tire that easily and can work for longer times so the annoying thing is gone. The bonus objectives are still there while the penalty of not completing them or skipping them is fewer things like dropping off your manufacture rating even though you won the race just because you choose a better attachment for your car instead of the one listed in bonus objective is quite annoying.

REVIEW : WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship (XBOX Series X)

There have been a few improvements in the game since WRC8. The feeling of car handling is a lot better than WRC 8 though the cars are no less nimble and the sensation of bulk has been improved as now you will feel a lot when the car is travelling on gravels and this improvement of the sensation was much needed. The addition of new English Co-Driver is good his delivery is much more enhanced and organic however it lacks the feature of acting naturally according to your driving and I hope this addition is made in the upcoming game. The chase camera has improved drastically earlier it was nearly impossible to use now its good it lets the car slide and pivot more on its centre axis while the camera remains facing forward. The AI of the game is far from the idea the difficulty of the game is now set by a slider. The slider suggests more fine control or to match your driving level. The performance of the AI during rallies can be strange from going bumper to bumper in one race to lagging behind miles in other.

review-wrc-9-fia-world-rally-championship-xbox-series-xTo conclude WRC 9 is one of the finest rally racing game you will come across. The sun shining over your head, the gravels under the car and the fine aesthetics are all one of a kind. The handling model of the game is really good and it will help the first-timer to get a hold of the game easily but the players who have been the fan of series for long will find the improvements fairly incremental. Though I would recommend playing this game on XBOX why because of new XBOX quick resume feature you will be playing this game in like 10 seconds and you will not be facing any lags in the game. The game runs perfectly on the generation XBOX.
