First Person Brawler Sky Noon Coming to Steam Early Access
Independent game developer Lunar Rooster and indie games partner Reverb Triple XP officially announced today that Sky Noon will be launching intoSteam’s Early Access program in Q2 2018. Fans of the shooter genre will now be able to experience this uniquely refreshing first-person multiplayer brawler set in a Wild West setting, high in the sky.
“What we love about Sky Noon is how it really feels like a first person brawler and that’s a refreshing take on the shooter genre,” states Ted Lange, Executive Producer for Reverb Triple XP. “Sky Noon really has that unique and elusive fun factor that’s hard to find in most multiplayer games and that’s a testament to the clear direction of fun design the Lunar Rooster development team has focused on when making Sky Noon.”
Sky Noon is the two year long adventure started by lead designer Craig Taylor who, along with the other “core four” of Lunar Rooster, began creation of the game while studying game development at Auckland’s Media Design School in New Zealand. The dev team sought to design a multiplayer action game that captured the feeling of brawler games like Smash Brothers andBrawlhalla with the fast precision of first person shooters. The first Sky Noon prototype was demonstrated at SXSW Gaming 2017 to a great reception, and was a finalist for the Gamer’s Voice Multiplayer award.
“The feeling of bringing your first video game project to life is absolutely surreal and amazing,” states Craig Taylor, lead developer of Lunar Rooster. “The idea was really simple – let’s make a first person shooter that felt familiar, yet different. We’re delighted that there’s gamers that wanted this type of experience and the team is really looking forward to the feedback from players to improve Sky Noon during the Early Access development.”
