Killing me softly! Plush new FPS Stuffed enters Early Access this Summer

Stuffed is the inaugural title from the inspiring young team behind Waving Bear Studio. This brand-new UK-based indie developer was founded with one mission: to create games with universal appeal enjoyed by players of all demographics. With Stuffed, Waving Bear Studio aims to reinvent the first-person shooter genre for a game enjoyed by all different ages, that is family-friendly, high-octane, and just a little bit sinister.

Stuffed takes place in the dreams of a little girl, Ellie. Players take up the mantle of Ellie’s teddy bears, protecting her from hordes of nightmares manifesting as evil toys before they break down the bedroom door. Featuring nearly a dozen different enemy types and bosses that aim to beat the fluff out of you, players will battle sinister gnomes, fanged rubber ducks, menacing robots, and eerie shadow monsters.

A challenging shooter that can be played solo, online, or in two-player split-screen co-op, players can discover up to fifteen different DIY household weapons, including Planky Mc-Bang Bang or Cola Can-non, not to mention explosives like Boom Corn. As well as numerous customisable skins for your arsenal, players can also alter their teddy bear’s outfit and fur colour.

Originally meeting at Portsmouth University, the Waving Bear team first conceived Stuffed as a prototype back in mid-2016. The enthusiastic graduates have worked diligently to bring the FPS to life over the last five years, picking themselves up after a failed Kickstarter and ultimately securing private funding. The studio is also taking a ‘player-first’ approach to development, by working closely with their community to refine and finesse the game throughout the development process.

Stuffed was originally conceived as an 18+ horror shooter but when we took early prototypes to conventions we had queues of younger gamers wanting to play. We realised how few FPS games are accessible to a younger audience, so we redesigned the title from the ground up: taking the mechanics and experiences enjoyed in mature shooters whilst ensuring the content appeals to a wide range of players. We love how, as the title’s grown throughout development, its reach and appeal has crossed so many barriers, whether that’s age, gender, nationality, and many other demographics.”
