Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain (SIE Spain ), Gammera Nest and The Not So Great Team today revealed more details about the minigames in Aurora’s Journey and the Pitiful Lackey.

The Not So Great Team has always liked minigames in games, especially if they have some kind of excuse within the plot. They are usually a little breath of fresh air, a fun experience with different mechanics that help the player to change a bit of air. So when they were faced with the first steps of the design of Aurora’s Journey and the Pitiful Lackey they decided that, if they had time, they were going to include some of them.

In this case, apart from the main adventure with its dialogues, platforming and Run&Gun mechanics, there are two recurring minigames in which Aurora can participate throughout the adventure and which represent part-time jobs that our protagonist performs to earn money, which she can later invest in her journey or in improving her equipment.
For example, when the player completes the first chapter of the plot, Professor Rachmaninoff offers us the chance to work for him delivering goods using his small, crappy truck modified with roboto technology.
In this minigame, which can be accessed as many times as we want by talking to Rachmaninoff, while the players are driving the truckthey must pick up boxes in the warehouse of Rachmaninoff Industries S.L. to deliver them to the assigned destination, marked with a blue beacon (and that we can also see on the minimap). There is a time limit, which is extended with each delivery. The game ends at the end of the time limit or when five boxes have been delivered and the truck is parked, and depending on the number of boxes delivered at the end, we will be paid accordingly. All this while dealing with the lackey, who accompanies Aurora in the passenger seat and will start humming spontaneously, although he can always be temporarily silenced by giving her a loving slap.
Another of the jobs that the player will have at his disposal will be to write stories for a popular literary magazine, something that can be done by accessing the typewriter in the house of Aurora, an amateur writer, who likes to explore different literary genres. The job in this minigame will be to correctly identify the genre of the work she starts to write and decide among three options which is the continuation to the paragraph that best fits the story. At the end of the story, the editor of the magazine will call and report what he thinks about the result, paying better or worse depending on how well it fits the genre of the work. A total of five different stories can be written during the adventure, which will be unlocked as Aurora travels the world, so it’s worth returning home from time to time to complete them all.
Although there is also some other minigame during the adventure, we don’t want to spoil the whole experience of discovering it for yourselves, so don’t miss out when Aurora’s Journey and the Pitiful Lackey is released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam on January 13.
