NEXL ROMPS TO FOURTH ESPORTS WRC WORLD TITLE

NACON,KT Racing,WRC Promoter and EKO Acropolis RallyGreece are pleased to announce that Lohan ‘Nexl’ Blanc has claimed an unprecedented fourth eSports WRC championship, storming to victory in the 2022 World Final presented by AGON by AOC.

Lohan ‘Nexl’ Blanc has claimed an unprecedented fourth eSports WRC title, storming to victory in the 2022 World Final presented by AGON by AOC. The defending champion qualified second for the four-stage finale which was expected to be dominated by regular season MVP Sam-Joe Abi Nakhle. However, the Lebanese teenager made an uncharacteristic error on the opening stage, clipping a wall at high speed on Col de Braus Reverse and dropping more than 40sec to his rivals, leaving him to play catch-up over the three remaining tests. The error left the door open for Blanc and Race Clutch team-mate John ‘Izamusing’ Bebnowicz-Harris to fight for the top step of the podium with Blanc eventually taking the spoils by 16.75sec.

Rounding out the top-three was 2022 World Final debutant Marco ‘Botti Jr’ Botinelli, a further 13.11sec adrift of Blanc, while Abi Nakhle’s three consequent stage wins proved to be in vain. “It was really hard to manage my pace,” expressed Blanc following his win. “I did not manage to win any rally [during the regular season] so I was not expecting to win, but at the end you have to push and believe in yourself. I have mixed feelings with Sami-Joe not making the podium but on the other hand I am really happy for myself for the journey [in esports WRC] since 2016.” Second-placed Bebnowicz-Harris was celebrating his maiden podium having previously come close in the previous two seasons.

“I tried so hard to push Lohan to the limit. Ultimately, I pushed over my limit and failed,” he said. “It has been a long road to here. I have just had little things go wrong. I really wanted today to be that day to get on the podium – and to finally have this success is out of this world.” For his winning efforts, Blanc walks away with 25,000 Euros in cash from WRC The Game publisher NACON and game development studio KT Racing, as well as a limited-edition TW Steel VS90 WRC watch. Bebnowicz-Harris receives a full sim set-up courtesy of AGON by AOC, Playseat and Fanatec and a limited-edition TW Steel VS92 WRC watch, while Botinelli takes home a TW Steel GT11 WRC watch awaiting the third place-getter.
