Interactive Narrative Adventure Takes Players on a Surreal Road Trip Along a Lost Highway Where Nothing is Quite What it Seems
Independent games publisher Versus Evil in partnership with multi award winning development studio Mad About Pandas today announced that the atmospheric first-person mystery game, Hitchhiker – A Mystery Game, is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was launched on Apple Arcade last month.
In Hitchhiker, players find themselves on a mysterious journey along a dusty highway with no recollection of who they are or where they are going. Players piece together their memories by catching rides with strangers across the country who provide clues to your character’s past and solutions to various environmental puzzles.
“Hitchhiker is a surreal road-trip experience with a uniquely enigmatic narrative with a dark edge, not immediately apparent at first glance. Hitchhiker folds the story, game play and mystery into a riveting experience.” said Mad About Pandas Managing and Creative Director, Patrick Rau. The narrative-driven interactive gameplay revolves around five distinct Hitch-hiked rides players take trying to recover lost memories through dialogue with an eclectic mix of drivers, each with their own quirky character traits. Despite the calm aesthetic, each dialogue holds a sinister undertow that builds the suspense during the player’s journey.
Hitchhiker is recipient of several award nominations and wins based on it’s First Ride Prototype including Intel Buzz Workshops Developer Award, and winner of the Game Connection Best Story award. The game was also an Innovation in Game nominee at Ludiscious, the Zurich Game Festival in 2018.
