Bigben Interactive, WRC Promoter and Kylotonn Racing games are raising the veil on the new season of the eSports WRC championship, which will start with the Rally Monte-Carlo on January 19th, 2017, and end with the Rally Australia on November 19th, 2017.

After a first season that saw Niklas “Johnson” Krellenberg become the 2016 eSports WRC World Champion and win a Hyundai i20, the competition is back in 2017 with a format that is even closer to reality.

The season will be divided into 13 rounds over eleven months of competition, and will finish in style with a grand finale. This will bring together the 8 best players in the championship to crown the 2017 eSports WRC World Champion!

Each round:

  • Will take place between a Thursday and Sunday
  • Includes up to 5 Special Stages and up to 2 stops in the Service Area
  • Lets each player record up to 5 attempts (only the best time will count)

The routes and additional information will be available before each event on www.esportswrc.com

A competition that is free for everyone who owns WRC 6

This year the competition is directly integrated in the game, so it’s easy for everyone who has a copy of WRC 6 to take part. Whether you’re equipped with a steering wheel or you use a controller, your consistency and endurance will be put to the test. The competition will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC.

A formula that is closer than ever to the real WRC Championship

This year, the eSports WRC is taking the form of a championship comprised of events that take place in parallel to the official WRC calendar. The best players in each round will be rewarded using a points system. Over the course of the season, the players will be included in a worldwide ranking and the best will qualify for the final. At the end of each event, the rankings for the three platforms (consoles and PC) will be merged and points awarded to the 50 best players (see appendix below). At the end of the season, the 10 best results (from the 13 championship rounds) for each player will be retained to calculate the overall rankings and determine the 8 finalists. Just like in real life, players will have to perform at a top level in several Stages, under varied conditions (weather and time of day) and manage their stops at the Service Area to repair and prepare their car between Special Stages. The route for each event will be revealed beforehand on www.esportswrc.com. Players may make 5 attempts throughout each event, from Thursday to Sunday, and only their best result will count for the rankings!
