Office Dog Announces First Three Games
Office Dog, Asmodee’s newest studio, launched in May 2022, is pleased to announce its first three games—all designed by freelance game designers. The games, which cover a variety of styles and mechanics, from deduction to engine building, showcase the talent and creativity of their creators.
“This ‘Freshman Class’ has excited us with their dynamic games, and we can’t wait to bring them to the public in 2024. This first collection is sure to please all types of players, from family-oriented to core-focused, and includes our first game based on Legends of the Five Rings.” Said Luke Peterschmidt, head of the Office Dog Studio.
Word Travelerwill be Office Dog’s first release. Created by Thomas Dagenais-Lespérance, the designer of Boardgamegeek’s #1 party game of all time, Decrypto.Word Travelerhas players moving through the world’s greatest cities using a limited number of words to get to sites they want to see. Let’s just hope the rest of the table can decode their directions as they visit Paris, New York, London, and Tokyo!
The second game from Office Dog will be River of Gold, designed by Keith Piggott. Based on the beloved Legend of the Five Rings license, this Euro game will focus on the River of Gold—a river rife with travel and commerce. Players build locations along this important river, deliver goods, and compete for influence in this classic mid-weight Euro game. Featuring fast turns and clever decisions, River of Gold is a great entry way into the world of Legend of Five Rings for anyone who loves a great Euro game!
The third game of this “freshman class” will be called Crafting the Cosmos, from co-designers, David Gordon and TAM and asks; why build a city when you can build an entire universe? In this game, players use the forces of the universe; Time, Ionization, Light, and Gravity to build Nebulae and foster life across their ever-expanding Universe. Using a clever mix of city building, engine building, and some worker placement, Crafting the Cosmos creates a unique and empowering experience. This stunning science-themed space game offers players the feeling of playing with the fundamental laws of the universe. Take the “time action” if you want to speed the game up, take the “gravity” action if you want to form a larger Nebula, and so on.
