PREVIEW : Ranch Simulator (PC)

It was once your grandfather’s pride-and-joy, but your family ranch has fallen on hard times and it’s up to you to change things around. Lying in a secluded forested canyon, the dilapidated house will test all your skills as you attempt to turn it into the most flourishing ranch in the region either alone or in up to four-player co-op multiplayer.

Rebuild Your Ranch

The years have not been good to your family ranch and it will need time and money to rebuild it to its former glory. Buy tools from the neighbourhood hardware shop and buy a range of vehicles from the garage to assist with your rebuilding designs. Renovate the main house, determine what livestock you need to farm and build the barns, pens and runs you’ll require to keep them safe and unharmed.

Look After Your Livestock

Grand building projects are one thing. Paying for them? That’ll come down to your ranching skills. Overseeing a productive process is all about the day-to-day. Once you’ve decided and taken on your livestock, regular feeding and watering will maintain them healthy. Successful breeding and careful rearing of the young will help increase the numbers in your herds and flocks and the more products you have to sell, the more revenue you’ll receive for all that hard work.

Head Out on the Hunt

There’s a massive open-world atmosphere outside your cosy homestead and it’s swarming with wildlife. So when you feel like slowing the speed, why not grab your reliable rifle and head out into the woods to stalk deer and hunt bears? But remember, the wilderness lives by its laws and you aren’t the only skilled hunter in the neighbourhood. Sometimes your steady hand and sharp eyes will also be needed back on the ranch to stop starving brutes from turning your off-grid dream into a nightmare.

This game is fun and addicting! It has the hunting of deer, bears and coyotes. It is relaxing and grindy. You have to hunt to make money to take care of what you have. It is not perfect. There are a ton of bugs we’ve found, but it is in Early Access so that is to be expected.

Some of the bugs:

– Auto feeders do not work on the barn

– Auto feeder in the deluxe coop is not there like it says in the building menu

– Truck went missing for a day and then returned randomly

– Lights in the house will not stay on

– The well says I can build it even though its already there because my husband built it

Things I would love to see put in the game:

– Fishing

– More hunting animals

– Some sort of colour blind mode (seeing the animals and poop are nearly impossible)

– Meters showing food, water and levels of milk in barrels

– Better driving mechanics and about a million fewer rocks and invisible walls

– More explanation (like what are the records I keep finding for?)

– Outdoor Lights

– House decoration

– Farming

Overall, the game is relaxing and pleasant to play with someone. Grinding the money to keep growing is delightful to me. The hunting is fairly simple (although stacking the meat is a pain). Caring for animals is fun. It is just a nice, chill play to play in our free time!
