PREVIEW : Rift Sweepers (PC)

Playing cooperative mission-based games with your teammates may be a lot of fun. Just that is provided by the recently released Early Access title Rift Sweepers. The game will be completely launched by March of next year and has a suggested retail price of USD 18.99. Four playable characters and seven missions are both planned by the developers. To repel the demon hordes, players must cooperate, or they will perish trying. From a gameplay perspective, the game is similar to Remnant: From the Ashes, although not so much in terms of game design. But the issue still stands: should you wait to purchase Rift Sweepers on Early Access?

PREVIEW : Rift Sweepers (PC)

To be blunt, based on the overall appearance, Rift Sweepers appears to be a really simple game. It appears to be one of those games that were put together quickly using the supplied Unreal materials. Shiny environments, ridiculously generic enemies and placeholder-looking text and UI are all present. It is sufficient to mention that this game lacks any real allure. As there are enormous horned demons with hammers, bugs, big humanoid men with rifles, and nasty crawling zombie things, the demons don’t get along with one another. Everything appears to have been tossed into the game.

There are four characters in the game, but only three can be controlled. I talked to two of them for a while. Each character possesses two weapons and two skills. One has an assault rifle and a pistol, but one can also lay mines and perform a special shotgun attack that seems to do very little. The other one I tried makes the first one appear meaningless because he has an assault weapon and a minigun in addition to being able to hurl grenades and smoke cigarettes to increase damage. The former’s minigun runs out of ammunition very rapidly, while the latter overheats absurdly soon. Instead of needing to reload, the minigun just cools down more quickly. It’s a little strange.

Shoot ‘n dodge

With the presentation and several character idiosyncrasies apart, Rift Sweepers plays decently enough. The ability to sprint and dodge is present. Both of these annoyingly stop the reload animation. Regrettably, the stamina metre is merely there because Remnant: From the Ashes had one as well. It merely serves to impede gaming and regenerates very slowly. There are only three missions in the game as of right now, which is a very low amount of material even for Early Access. Depending on the difficulty level you’ve chosen, each one takes 10 to 20 minutes. Recently, two easy difficulties were introduced to make up for the low player count, however, you cannot select to battle any bosses on these levels.

As you can see, Rift Sweepers requires between 30 and 40 minutes of gameplay before you see everything it has to offer. However, the three objectives are very dissimilar from one another. The first is dull and involves your squad refuelling pods that are ablaze with a massive egg. It takes a while, and the game is over if one of the pods runs out of fuel. Why? I’m not sure. Why didn’t the burning simply stop? That is not an excuse to abandon a task.

To reach a gasoline tank that needs to be destroyed deeper inside subterranean tunnels, you must blast up obstacles with bombs in the second objective. Again, the explosives’ timers are far too long. And the explosives keep breaking down for no apparent reason, necessitating your constant presence to maintain them. What happens if the clock continues to run down without you fixing it? Yes, you utterly fail the mission. The pod running out of fuel is equally unnecessary. In all honesty, the third mission is the strangest and greatest. You must fend off demons while delivering pizza orders. When I saw this, I hardly believed my eyes.

Even if the pizza task is terrible, I enjoyed the concept. You earn experience points and gold for completing missions. The core of the game, where the gold is known as cash, is where you can level up your skills. excellent consistency Rift Sweepers can hardly be worth $18.99. Given that the complete release will only have seven missions, it’s unlikely that most players will even reach the two-hour mark and become ineligible for a refund. I didn’t see any reason to continue playing this game after completing the third mission, and I don’t think anyone else will either.
