REVIEW : Alwa’s Legacy (PS5)

Alwa’s Legacy is a modern take on a classic game with perilous dungeons, mystical artefacts, and ancient secrets. In this non-linear adventure game full of exploration, every path forward is possible by increasing your magic.

You can select how you wish to play with our upgrading system: exploratory, offensive, or strategic. It’s entirely up to you!

REVIEW : Alwa’s Legacy (PS5)

To travel through the various hard areas, quick reflexes are required, and with easy-to-change settings, everyone may enjoy Alwa’s Legacy. After a successful kickstarter, Elden Pixels is releasing Alwa’s Legacy for PC in 2020. It was favourably appreciated because to its emphasis on exploration and interesting changes to player movement. Although Metroidvanias are plentiful in game stores, they haven’t crossed my path in a long time. Fortunately, this appears to hit all of the appropriate notes.

The plot could not be simpler. Zoe is a girl with amnesia who must reclaim her magical abilities with the help of the locals. It won’t be long before an evil vicar shows up to ruin your day, and it’ll be up to you to battle him after you’ve regained your mojo. There’s not much else to it, but the haphazard writing is charming. It’s lighthearted, yet not overburdened with quips. It’s not the main emphasis of Alwa’s Legacy, and it tends to fade into the background.

REVIEW : Alwa’s Legacy (PS5)

The map does a great job of identifying potential paths, and there are accessibility options that illustrate where you can save your time. If you need to save money quickly, this is a good option. In the first act, you’re given the three tools for traversal and Zoe’s movement is very fluid. You get a block to stand on, a bubble to float in, and a lightning bolt to help you fight. These powers can be enhanced as you continue to make movement even easier.

Upgrades can be made to the powers, such as adding spikes to the blocks when you push them, and so on. The dungeons are built around these key abilities, so you’ll never feel like you’re missing something important to proceed. There are thousands of them strewn over the globe. Some are simple to find, while others may require you to solve challenges in the environment or think outside the box to obtain. Additional improvements, such as health, can be earned from the world’s residents, usually by completing sidequests or collecting specified goods.

Teardrops may also be found all throughout the world, and they have the extra benefit of turning save points into warp points. So looking for these is a good idea because they can assist you get out of a sticky dungeon or just across the pretty wide terrain. Dungeons in the game are also overcome with your powers, and each dungeon usually has its own theme. For example, Sylvan Temple must be overcome by reducing and raising water levels. In the dungeons, puzzles abound, most of which require your abilities and rapid platforming skills to solve. Each dungeon has a boss at the conclusion, and I thought this was Alwa’s Legacy’s weakest point. To beat them while coping with environmental threats, you’ll need to memorise their routines. However, they didn’t strike me as being as memorable as they may have been.

REVIEW : Alwa’s Legacy (PS5)

Alwa’s Legacy is a stunning piece of 2D art in the 16-bit style. The game’s backdrops and character animation are both outstanding. Zoe is also a delight to operate, thanks to her flawless movement and animation. The amount of character that the animations convey, whether it’s for NPCs, Zoe, or foes, is another nod to previous games and pixel art games in general. The game’s soundtrack is also made up of Midi-style compositions with some amazing audio tracks to go along with the action onscreen. Sound effects are also appropriate for the world and are excellent. Alwa’s Legacy may not push your modern console hardware to its limits, but it’s a game that’s simple to recommend thanks to its magnificent visuals, fun gameplay, and fantastic soundtrack. This is a must-have for fans of the genre. Alwa’s Legacy is a fantastic film. While the tale may fade into the background, the main pleasure comes from discovering new objects and locales. Your powers appear rapidly, allowing you to navigate across the environment at a reasonable rate. They work well together and provide you with a variety of options for getting from one place to another.
