REVIEW : Cars 3: Driven to Win (PS4/ PS4 Pro)
The weakest form of Games are those which are movie tie-in. Exception to those are there like Ratchet and Clank but the movie was a bore fest. Cars 3 is another beast all together.
Cars 3: Driven to Win is a car racing game with arcade racing roots. IT fiddles with the story of the movie, the forgets about it until the final Showdown.
Instead of following the story you are given variety of races like faster lap, time trial, single races, championships etc. There are series of challenges to keep you on your toes. Nothing out of the ordinary here, but it works because all this funnels into new content.
The cast of the game leans heavily towards Cars 3 Movie but all of the trilogy main stays are present. The racing tracks cover the trilogy as well. Every Track has nitty gritty details resembling ever so close to the movies. Graphics are nothing to write home about but they do a good job of resembling the Cars movie world.
The basic race that you can do is 3 Lap race against other movie stars. Turbo fills up as you do tricks or sideswipe other racers. Racing Strips on the tracks help fill the boost quicker. Stunts can be executed with the right sticks and the handling.
Battle racing takes inspiration from every Kart Racer ever and there are weapon pickups to annihilate the opponents. Stunt Racing has ramps and balloons to score as much points as possible. Takedown is the best mode present in Cars 3.
Taking Good inspiration from Burnout games of the old, in Takedown mode you score large amount of points by driving into explosive cars.
Cups consist of 3 Races to win the said cup. There’s special Master Events, where you race against Elite cars. Playground offers different challenges as compared to rest of the game which makes it enjoyable. The Target audience of this game will be happy to know that every car in the game runs at same speed and has same power. The multiplayer adds lot of replay ability.
