REVIEW : Dead Or Alive 6 (PS4)

Dead or Alive 6 is the least pervy of all Dead or Alive games and features robust fighting mechanics. Does that make it the best fighting game this generation, read the full review to find out?

Team Ninja has done great work on fighting mechanics of the game and have toned down on boobs and asses. Dead or Alive 6 is easy to play but has lot of depth for the pros.

The story mode is just for practice and story makes little sense but still fun none the less. Game is lot of fun with friends in arcade mode. There are small cut scenes before every fight and the story is bare minimum.

Story mode, DOA Quest and Arcade will keep you occupied for hours at end. The roster is large enough for you to master and invest solid amount of time in.

Nico is a new comer to the series and she is great, her move set are so smooth and background story is really interesting. While Diego feels like a generic fighter and can be ignore for most of the part.

The game still features fan service in terms of costume to unlock and try and there is dedicated menu item for the same though it is a bit hidden away. To add to this, fighter dress feature tears and destruction during battle but that is toned down for few younger fighters.

DOA Quest requires skill instead of standard button mashing. You’ll be playing 104 levels across 3 districts with difficulty increasing ever so slightly per level. If you’re failing on a level continuously, game will simply start suggesting the tutorial.

Online part of the game is bare bones, you only have a few playlist to choose from plus there is input lag in online matches which put me off.

The camera angels while in a corner trying to block or attack can be troublesome as you are unable to see what other player is doing as players can be blocked by environment.

The inputs are fairly simple with punch, kick and hold forming the basic moves of all the fighters. Plus, the game features a dedicated button for specials and all of the combos can be pulled off by pressing combination of basic inputs. Button mashers will feel right at home and will eventually start learning basic moves, game is this good.
