REVIEW : MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD (PS4/ PS4 Pro)

Capcom with Monster Hunter World have tried to push the series to mainstream with changes to make the game appealing to games to new comers. This does not mean they have lost the essence which made the game have such a dedicated fan base. We have tried Monster Hunter in the past but only on portables, this one is leagues above that, with variety in monsters and quests to so much depth in inter linking gameplay mechanics that you will be addicted to it. Among the best RPGs we have played in a while.

Monster Hunter World gameplay involves lot of numbers, numbers dealing with Weapon Damage to Armor effectiveness, all are very important. To be the most effective Hunter and learn the most about Flora and Fona of the new World, you have to know all these numbers.

There is so much to learn in the game and everything carries stats which is important. This may seem very complicated but all this gels together very well and the game eases the player into the system as the game progresses.

PS4 Pro and Xbox One X consoles offer extra with Monster Hunter World. Players are given choice between Resolution, Graphics or Frame Rate and you can change between them at any moment to know their effect.

The opening few hours of Monster Hunter is filled with tutorials but they are so seamlessly done that you will start hunting and exploring this beautiful open world in no time at all. The information regarding the various systems like Gameplay mechanics and the environment is slowly fed so that you are not overwhelmed at any given time. Even if you don’t pay attention to the system in the early part of the game, you will eventually start learning them automatically and it will become second nature while playing the game.

This is amazing for newcomers and for the veterans, don’t fear, the information is still here. Just that you can choose to utilize the information only when it’s necessary like when dealing with monsters which are harder to kill.

Even though everything you do in the game is repetitive to some extent but you will never be bored doing it and you will never do the same thing at the same place against the same monster. Every fight against the monster is unique because all monsters interact with the environment, plus Monster interacts with other monsters as well. You might be hunting a monster and soon you will see another monster approaching it. LET THEM FIGHT!! And it is so much fun of course.

Combat is amazing as well and leveling up is not linked to your character at all. You get better by killing more monsters and looting their dead bodies. This allows you to build better weapons and armor, which makes it easier to kill Monsters. There might be times where you might not be able to defeat a monster, but instead of losing hope just go back to previous area and kill other smaller Monster and gain loot to build better stuff.

If everything fails then you can easily co-op with 3 other players to take down even the mightiest monsters. Co-op works seamlessly but only when it works, there were still some issues.

You can post a quest and invite upto 3 players to join you but if you fail to post a quest you will end up waiting a long time for other players to join. Further, Headset with mic is highly recommended for the best experience. No greater reward is provided for taking down a monster in co-op. You can choose to play alone or in co-op and this sense of freedom is the best in any recent game.

You will end up taking notes about Weapons, Monster, Potions and what works where and this is so addicting as the game progresses.
