Ed Key and David Kanaga’s hit title launched on PC earlier this year , the Game was well received everywhere. The Game also became part of a debate of whether it is game or not. Now, Curve Studios have brought Proteus to PS3 and PS VITA.

The Game begins with you being over the ocean riding the waves and a randomly generated island just in-front of you to explore and relax in. Move towards the island and you arrive at the beach , the trees and their sound , the plants and their sound , the animals and their sound , so unique , so distinct and so soothing to the ears that you are instantly drawn in by the Game and it’s environment.

Be it chasing the owl at night or the frog all around the island , the game brings out the child in you who just wants to explore every corner of the given world. There are no objective in the Game or rather you could say exploring the Island and seeing all it’s seasons is an objective. There is no HUD in the Game , the only action buttons you have are ‘X’ to sit down and touch screen. You don’t have a map , to know a way around a particular place , you have to remember how you got there.

There are 4 different seasons in the game (spring, summer, fall and winter) , with each season having it’s own background sound and it’s own feel to the environment . The pixelated environment of every season is beautiful to look at in it’s own way , while being soothing to the eyes in each and every way.
The minute changes in every season are the sprinkles of great art style present in the Game. Leaves falling , the changing visibility according to the season , the scorching sun of summer and the first downpour coupled with the music provided by David Kanaga work really well together.

When you complete the Game , you are presented with the title screen to start the game again. You get few additional features in your second play-through like you can change the seasons by rubbing back touch pad whilst sitting down and an island generated on the basis of your current date and time settings while also considering your location.

Proteus is Game which provides you with a experience no other game can. As I have mentioned above many times , the game is very soothing and relaxing but this experience may not be for everyone just because of the fact that their is no aim in the game except watching all the seasons unfold. You will best experience the game when your mind is free and you just want to relax.

Proteus is a cross buy title and has 11 trophies , collecting all might take you 4-5 playthroughs of the game , so I suggest taking it one playthrough at a time. The game is priced at $12.5 on NA PSN and GBP 9.99(Rs 780) on EU PSN and I think it is totally worth the price.

Curve studios have again ported a PC indie game to PS VITA succesfully , showing their excellence with each and every game the release on the platform.
