When you defeat your first colossi and stay it till the lights go out in its eyes and you are left with this empty feeling, that’s when you realize that you are playing a master piece. The first colossi always act as a tutorial for the bigger things to come but the feeling stays.

The World of Shadow of the Colossus is vastly empty, there are no NPCs, no villages, no other Human to interact with. You end up at the shrine after every encounter and begin the adventure to the next encounter. All this may seem linear but every Colossi presents a different challenge.

The Colossi are part Golems and part living creatures and represent ancient Titans. There are detailed stone works and ruined settlements present all over the World of Shadow of the Colossus and it is rewarding to explore them to build up the imagination.

The Shadow of the Colossus remake is among the most beautiful game you will ever play. Remade by Bluepoint studios from the ground up, the game looks stunning in 4K HDR on a PS4 Pro. You can either choose framerate or resolution on PS4 Pro to customize your gaming experience.

Sound Quality is top Notch as well. Kow Otani’s eternally beautiful score is perfectly brought to this remake of masterpiece and it is so well done.

The controls are remapped for this modern release, thought could still pick classic controls if you want. The modern controls make it easier to play the game and it is welcome change for new comers.

The entire world map is revamped and Colossi also get serious attention to detail but never stray away from original source. Auto save is a welcome feature along with manual save. After you have completed the game at least once you can access Time Trials and other challenges along with filters for game and accessories for Wanderer.

The best addition to the game is the Photo mode, at any given moment you can press the D-Pad to take a picture using the most complete photo mode in a game. Post FX to lighting effects and the position, everything can played around with. You might as well have a playthrough just to capture amazing shots using the photo mode.

Controlling Agro is still cumbersome, speeding up and slowing down still feels Jagged. It is possible to hold triangle for a constant speed but changing direction is whole other ball game.

This remake is in every way a love letter to the original and will make players fall in love again.
