Sharda University organises “Technovation Hackathon”

More than 400 students came together at the first “Technovation Hackathon” – 24-hour hackathon organised by School of Engineering and Technology, Sharda University, in association with GNIDA. On the occasion of 28th Foundation Day of GNIDA,  the event which brought together students from across 30 different colleges and universities from different states of the country with an aim to ideate and create innovative solutions for some of the critical issues faced by the people of Greater Noida. The students worked on projects based on relevant themes like Waste Management, Security & Surveillance, Smart Transportation & Traffic Management, and Energy Efficiency & Green Energy. Prize distribution ceremony and display of projects at the SMSR Auditorium, Sharda University was conducted.

A panel consisting of 8 Senior Experts from distinct industries evaluated the projects. The first prize winner of INR 50,000, followed by winners across four themes got INR 30,000, INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 per theme respectively. Anubhav Kumar Singh, Samiksha Singh and Atif Anwar of Sharda University won the top prize of Rs. 50,000/- for their innovative idea under the theme of Security & Surveillance.

The winners under the theme Waste Management were Paresh Rawat, Vaishnawi Wats, Alvira Faitma and Somya Singh (Sharda University, Rs. 30,000/-); Devid Negi, Chandni, Harshita Borthekur, Bandeep Kaur and Swati Sethi (Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Rs. 20,000/-) and Neha Kandpal, Ritu Rani, Arif Sattar, Geetanjali Anand, Waish Karan and Vartika Jain (Sharda University, Rs. 10,000/-).

The winners under the theme Smart Transportation & Traffic Management were Sandeep Kumar, Sachin Kumar, Shivam Dharwal, Shruti Gupta and Shruti Dwivedi (Noida Institute of Engg. & Technology, Rs. 30,000/-); Aman Kumar, Harshita Aggarwal, Anchal and Prince Kumar (JIMS Engineering Mgmt & Technical Campus, Rs. 20,000/-) and Banoshree Bose, Ashish Tiwari and Garima Sharma (Sharda University, Rs. 10,000/-).

The winners under the theme Security & Surveillance were Saket Agarwal, Nitesh Kumar Jaiswal and Bikesh Kumar Singh (Sharda University, Rs. 30,000/-); Mukul Singh, Deepak Rana, Abhishek Pandey, Ridhi Sethi and Parul Taneja (Manav Rachna University, Rs. 20,000/-) and Asish Tripathi, Saurabh Singha and Ikul Kammandua Steve (Sharda University, Rs. 10,000/-).

The winners under the theme Energy Efficiency & Green Energy were Shubham Rathore and Yashpal (Noida Institute of Engg. & Technology, Rs. 30,000/-); Rahul Kumar Choudhary, Shashank Shekhar and Raviyanshu P. Singh (Sharda University, Rs. 20,000/-) and Sumant Raja, Srawan Singh Rao and Anshit Bhargava (Noida Institute of Engg. & Technology, Rs. 10,000/-).

Elaborating on the initiative Shri Narendra Bhooshan, IAS, CEO, GNIDA said, “Technovation Hackathon aims at discovering innovative ideas from young minds for problems of the society. The students will present ideas for appropriate waste management and disposal, including energy generation, volume minimization, and incorporation into useful products which can be viable and environment-friendly. One of the themes includes management of our energy resources by making the existing sources more efficient and switching to greener energy options to the possible extent. An emerging city like Greater Noida can make its own contribution in this area. The students participated at the Technovation Hackathon presented ingenious projects to cope up with this issue.”

Shri Krishna Kumar Gupta, ACEO, GNIDA along with Shri C.M. Tripathi, GM, GNIDA said “Smart transportation will be focus area for the event, as it is a need of the hour for Greater Noida. The ideas presented by the students will benefit the citizens by providing access to safe, affordable and sustainable transportation systems, including e-mobility, electric vehicles (EVs), mass transport, rapid transport, and self-driving vehicles”.
