Skirmish Society Out Now on Discord

Independent game developer Andy Wallace is releasing Skirmish Society, a unique war game in the vein of Diplomacy and Subterfuge, played via Discord bot today.

In Skirmish Society, players install the free Discord bot on their server, and submit their orders to the game-master bot each day. Up to 20 players can join, and it creates a procedurally generated map for each game.

Each turn is a full day, and a big part of the game is DMing other players to try and cut deals or sway public opinion in the public channel.

Players submit their orders by secretly DMing the bot. There is an accompanying map on the Skirmish Society website, but the gameplay happens in Discord. Although the game typically takes place over a week or two, there is a fast mode for streamers or people who want a short version, where turns resolve every 15 minutes instead of once daily. The game is free to install and play, but there is a paid upgrade that unlocks some aesthetic upgrades and a few tools for running the game (but no in-game advantage).
