Tencent launches new global publishing division, Krafton makes PUBG free

Today Tencent announced the launch of a new games publishing division Level Infinite. The brand is said to be “dedicated to delivering high-quality games to a global audience.” It will operate from offices in Singapore and Amsterdam with staff located globally. Level Infinite is offering technical and production assistance, as well as market research and assistance with esports integration. Niko Partners notes that Level Infinite is intended to unify the distribution and support for Tencent owned and invested in studios on the global stage. Tencent owned studios such as NExT will publish Synced: Off Planet to a global audience through the label and acquired studios such as Funcom, Sharkmob, Klei Entertainment, 10 Chambers Collective and others will also utilize the publishing label. We note that this label will enhance Tencent’s offering in the West and includes games that are unlikely to be approved in China without significant modifications.

Krafton announced that it will release the PC and console versions of PUBG for free starting on January 12, 2022. All users from around the world will be able to play PUBG on PCs and consoles without needing to pay.
