A TRIBUTE TO THE LAID-BACK LIFESTYLE OF THE SURFERS OF THE 1950S AND 1960S

Breitling announces the launch of its Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection, whose watches take their design inspiration from the brand’s original SuperOcean from 1957. They also embody the cool, laid-back surfing lifestyle of the 1950s and 1960s. The soundtrack? Take your pick – but your mix tape would have to include “Wipe Out” and a selection of songs by the Beach Boys, the Ventures, and Jan and Dean.

Breitling’s Capsule Collections are produced for a limited time and consequently in a limited volume, but the watches are not numbered. They give the brand a chance to tell specific stories rooted in the history of its core collection, and the Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection watches definitely have their own stories to tell.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection introduces some interesting twists to one of the world’s true diving icons. Each watch in the collection is a modern retro interpretation of a classic sea watch that embodies the laid-back lifestyle associated with surfers and beachcombers.

According to Breitling CEO Georges Kern, “The Capsule Collections let us tell some of our brand’s most inspiring stories while we produce some remarkably

unique watches for a limited amount of time. With the Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection, we’ve focused on the relaxed Southern California fun-in-the-sun culture that defined an era. The surfing itself in the 1950s and 1960s is at the heart of our storytelling here, but those times offered so much more: the great music, the amazing cars, and the almost spiritual connection to freedom found on endless sandy beaches and in the search for the perfect wave.”

The Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection is available with two dial options. One has a classic black dial and is presented on a black vintage-inspired leather strap with a pin or folding buckle, while the other has a blue dial and is equipped with a brown vintage-inspired leather strap with a pin or folding buckle. Of course, both are also available with an integrated Ocean Classic stainless-steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp. There is also a two-tone version featuring a bidirectional rotating bezel in 18 k red gold with a black ceramic ring. This striking watch has a black dial and is available with either a gold-brown vintage-inspired leather strap or an Ocean Classic stainless-steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp.

One of the standout design features of this model is its bidirectional concave stainless-steel bezel with an ultrahard scratch- and shock-resistant ceramic bezel ring, whose luminescent dot at the 12 o’clock position is an ideal feature for a dive watch. The time pieces in the Superocean Heritage ’57 Capsule Collection are powered by the Breitling Caliber 10, which offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Like all Breitling watches, they are COSC-certified chronometers, an independent confirmation of their precision and performance.

TELLING EVEN MORE STORIES:  THE SUPEROCEAN HERITAGE ’57 LIMITED EDITION

Breitling is also proud to be launching a watch that makes its own style statement. The Superocean

Heritage ’57 Limited Edition shares some unmistakable design DNA with its cousins in the Capsule Collection, but it takes its cool credentials a couple of steps further. It is the embodiment of pure Bohemian chic, and would be right at home somewhere between the Beat Generation and Woodstock.

Breitling CEO Georges Kern comments: “We designed the Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition as a watch for people who want something a little out of the ordinary – for people who want both a great watch and a little festival of color on their wrists.”

The Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition definitely achieves this aim – the watch is all about color. It has a 42-millimeter stainless-steel case and bidirectional rotating bezel with an ultrahard black ceramic bezel ring and a black dial. But the real highlights are the splashes of color marking the hours at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock on the dial. The hour markers and the hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® in a rainbow graduation of yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red, and orange. This makes the watch particularly easy to read in a range of lighting conditions – and this is a good thing as you won’t want to take your eyes off it!

And if you want to add even more color, your Limited Edition can be matched to a vibrant Outerknown

ECONYL® yarn NATO strap, which can be purchased separately in one of six color combinations: blue with dark blue stripes and lining, light blue with dark blue stripes and lining, yellow with orange stripes and lining, gray with black stripes and lining, red with black stripes and lining, and green with black stripes and lining.

The Breitling Caliber 10 inside the case delivers a power reserve of about 42 hours, and the watch’s precision is independently confirmed by its COSC chronometer certification.

The Superocean Heritage ’57 Limited Edition is a boutique watch limited to only 250 pieces. The caseback is engraved with the words “ONE OF 250”. If you want to get in touch with your inner hippie, you’ll have to visit one of Breitling’s boutiques around the world. Peace and love!
