UltraHorse Launches European Playtest for SquadBlast, a New Multiplayer Side-Scrolling Tactical Shooter

Ultrahorse Entertainment, cross-platform game developer, today launches the European Playtest for its debut title, SquadBlast, a side-scrolling tactical shooter game. The free-to-play playtest will give players in the region unrestricted access to the new game which features a roster of heroes, each with their own feel and strategic playstyles (tank, support, healer and more) as well as unique abilities.

Players can choose from a variety of weapons and classes and co-ordinate seamlessly with teammates to gain an edge on the battlefield. Creativity, boldness, teamwork and adaptability are the keys to claiming victory in this adrenaline-pumping shooter.

From 2v2 Capture The Point and 5v5 Payload all the way to classic Team Deathmatch, there are a variety of modes for all tastes and styles. But no matter the number of players, every projectile is synchronised with the latest technology, so there are no disappointing ghost bullets. In SquadBlast, every bullet matters.

SquadBlast has a fantasy futuristic setting, taking place in the year 2041. The fabric of society has crumbled and groups of concerned citizens have armed themselves to fight back against the greedy corporations and dictators who oppress the people of the planet.

The lore is extensive and has been meticulously crafted by the mind of Chief Lore Officer Rick Gush, who has directed the development of iconic titles such as The Legend of Kyrandia series and Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty.

UltraHorse Founder, Anatolijs Ropotovs, commented: “The SquadBlast story extrapolates existing societal trends two decades into the future. We have created a world that feels realistic and grounded, with a dash of future fantasy that provides the flexibility for the gameplay and narrative to be wild and unpredictable.”

He added: “Fair, competitive gunplay and player expression are the guiding pillars of SquadBlast. That’s why there are also plans for a full-featured level editor later on – along with the ability for players to run custom matches. But for now, we can’t wait to welcome players to the game on the 22nd. See you at EGX!”

To celebrate the launch of The European Playtest, SquadBlast will be showcased at EGX London from 22nd – 25th September. It will initially be available on PC via Steam, with a console (Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch) roadmap to be announced at a later date

Scythe: Digital Edition will receive three DLCs!
