MWM Interactive to Bring ‘Chained: A Victorian Nightmare’ Theater Experience to VR Platforms

MWM Interactive (MWMi), a leading creator of story-driven VR and interactive entertainment, today announced that “Chained: A Victorian Nightmare,” a virtual reality (VR) retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” will be released for Oculus Rift, Steam and HTC Vive later this month for $5.99. This at-home version of the hit location-based immersive theater experience, which previously played to sold-out audiences in Los Angeles and New York City, will bring a dark retelling of the classic tale home just in time for the holidays.

A new trailer for the experience is available at https://youtu.be/RRzfX-JW9F4. Wishlist “Chained” now on Oculus, Steam, and VIVEPORT.

This experience puts viewers at the center of the story — they will confront their past, present and future in a bone-chilling journey of self-discovery. The adaptation is faithful to the chilling, moody atmosphere of the classic novel. Previously released as a location-based immersive experience in Los Angeles in fall 2018 and New York City in spring 2019, this version transports audiences to an eerie Victorian London setting within the comfort of their own home.

“Chained” is created and directed by Justin Denton, maker of the immersive ‘Legion’ experience at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, and executive produced by MWM Interactive’s EVP of Content Ethan Stearns.

“‘Chained’ is the result of theater, cinema and interactive entertainment coming together to create a singular experience that provides a deeper and more personal experience of this classic tale,” said MWMi’s Ethan Stearns. “At MWM Interactive, we’re focused on working with creators to tell great narratives no matter the technical medium.”
