REVIEW : The Walking Zombie 2 (XBOX Series X)

ALDA games developed THE WALKING ZOMBIE 2. First released on Steam a few years ago, Walking Zombie 2 has arrived on  Xbox. Don’t be discouraged if you’ve never played the original. It’s like a different experience unfolding like a first-person shooter. It’s right there on the store page; it says “attractive modern polygon style.”

REVIEW : The Walking Zombie 2 (XBOX Series X)

At the beginning of the game, the story arc consists of a unique style. In the prologue, we are babies still in the mother and turn into zombies after being bitten. Fortunately, we were born just in time, and our mother turned around and ate some of the people in the camp, but the city elders saved us. Finally, about 20 years later, we are all adults and are ready to go out into the world and seek happiness or something.

The world is a dark place after the zombie apocalypse. Because you were born there, you have to fight for your survival and fight many types of zombies, bandits, and dangerous boss monsters. You’ll progress through an important storyline and many side quests, level up your skills and perks, sell and buy gear, and interact with unfortunate survivors.

REVIEW : The Walking Zombie 2 (XBOX Series X)

Unfortunately, the promised attractive modern style polygon graphics turned out to be unfortunate. The zombies and other characters we interact with are pretty cool, retro, and old-fashioned, but the scenery is challenging. In the forest, the popup tree is almost constant but always blurry in the random collisions it encounters (it seems to be to obscure drawing distance issues, not design choices). The overall feel of the game is a bit awkward. That seems odd for games that claim to be optimized for the Xbox Series X console | S.Sound is fine. Zombie moans and gunshots, everything is present and correct. Although all pistols sound very similar, it’s odd because they can wield everything from weak pistols to fully automatic rifles. Overall, the presentation of  Walking Zombie 2 is pretty straightforward.

Walking Zombie 2 is a good old story FPS  with dozens of quests and lots of shooting material with different weapons. Your main enemy is the zombies that already dominate the world. They are ubiquitous, with many different types, especially many. Use a variety of ammunition, grenades, or weapons with melee weapons to defeat them.

There are numerous locations to explore, and after completing a series of tasks, you can move on to the next town. First, in the small town we grew up in, then in the larger settlements, a series of missions with a mayor very similar to a particular former president of the United States, and even more until unlocking everywhere. It means that the mission has a world map.

REVIEW : The Walking Zombie 2 (XBOX Series X)

The mission that makes up most of the effort to be strong is exceptional. For example,  the first city has a place called the Secret Science Base. Missions in this area include moving to the same location, killing zombies, then picking up something or pressing a switch, regardless of how you get there. And every time we returned, the zombies magically reappeared … this is a military base with tightly sealed doors. How do zombies invade? As a result, the game becomes the same very quickly. In addition, some missions are grainy. I winked when I wandered around the crowded toilet, looking for someone’s watch.

As you complete more and more quests, your character will become stronger with better equipment, improved skills, and perks. The other residents of  Walking Zombie 2 are all hostile, except for those who live in different cities and spend their missions. Zombies, dogs, bandits-they all want some of you, and you can only discourage them from deadly forces. As an FPS, the gunplay shown here is not bad. So the Call of Duty and Battlefield 2042 probably won’t have a sleepless night, but it works. Shooting zombies (and other enemies) in your headcounts as a critical hit which does even more damage. Fortunately, all enemies (except the boss) are the same height. Therefore, if you run away and bring them to you, you need to target the first zombie’s head and keep pulling the trigger. It also helps them all seem to like walking a single file … in the boss’s mention, you need almost all of the ammo you carry to put them down. There are some, usually really big bullet sponges. There is nothing stupid here.

Therefore, The Walking Zombie 2 is a new flagship of the “Pay to Win” business model, and I find it very annoying. It’s too annoying. In addition to this, all the items you need to buy to survive will cost a lot of in-game currency-it’s very slow to earn by completing a mission-you’ll get the real money again. So unless tempted to use it, it’s the last nail in the coffin.

REVIEW : The Walking Zombie 2 (XBOX Series X)

There is a fun game trying to get out of The Walking Zombie 2, but it’s drowning under the constant pressure of microtransactions. The result feels confusing. There is no way to recommend this game. It’s the same level, but the complexity isn’t different. Get the quest, move to a location, kill like a  zombie, move to the end, get more information about the quest, return to the original location, kill four zombies and repeat the process. There is a game mechanic in real life where you have to wait for fuel to keep playing the game or spend money to get unlimited fuel. Game prices are insane for medium-tier weapons and vehicles. The story is boring and not surprising or interesting. It’s more fun to watch the paint dry than to play this game again.

review-the-walking-zombie-2-xbox-series-xI've been playing for a long time because I was aiming for success, but at that point, I wanted to stabilize my sanity rather than play again. Spend time elsewhere and don't spend money on this game.
