Aeterna Noctis receives a major update packed with new features, and “Will of the Kings” is announced for Summum Aeterna
Aeterna Noctis has become a success among critics and the public since its release on December 15. In the following months, the development team has stayed in close contact with its player community, listening to their suggestions and making improvements based on user feedback. The Metroidvania developed by Aeternum Game Studios has just received a new major update as a result of the communication with its fans, including new accessibility options and performance improvements. The patch is now available on Steam. The Epic Games Store, Xbox and PlayStation versions will receive this update in the next few weeks, as well as its port for the Nintendo Switch will be released with all the new improvements included.
The studio highlights the inclusion of new algorithms that allow automatic assistance in the combat and movement system so all players can enjoy the game from start to finish in a more dynamic and rewarding experience. “Without knowing how, the player will feel more dynamic, more fluid and powerful… That’s the magic of the applied algorithms” says Aeternum Game Studios.
On the other hand, the central branch of the King of Darkness skill tree has been balanced, greatly improving the performance of the available powers. The behaviour of certain gems has also been revised. For example, the Guardian Angel now recovers all hearts, and recharges completely if the character is defeated or adds a double heal for each life charge. Other powers in the skill tree have also been revised to make the King of Darkness gain more skills in a more satisfying way for the overall gameplay experience.
As for one of the most commented points by users, the platforms and spikes levels in some sections of Aeterna Noctis will now be much more accessible thanks to the Time Sapphire gem. This gem has been revised and now completely stops the character in weightlessness when he aims with his arrows, allowing him to dodge surrounding spikes or hazards for a longer time. “If the complex sections of platforms and teleport arrow are a barrier for you, the Time Sapphire will become your best ally to overcome the game,” say the creators.
Finally, other bugs reported by the community have been corrected and a significant improvement has been made in terms of performance, making the game require fewer resources to obtain its maximum potential.
These technical and gameplay improvements make Aeterna Noctis a much more enjoyable Metroidvania experience in Aeterna Mode. New month, new content for the adventures of the King of Darkness. The development team promised monthly updates, and with September comes “Will of the Kings”, the third major patch that provides several new customization features, but stands out for offering players a new game mode that multiplies the frenzy of the battles. By activating the Will of Kings when starting a new adventure, players must choose a weapon that cannot be exchanged for others but can be upgraded in level and rarity.
Here comes another of the features of this patch, the ascension of weapons. Through certain blueprints it will be possible to upgrade the weapons to “Summum” level, unleashing their full power and giving the King of Darkness powerful abilities unique until now. A weapon ascended to this level becomes a devastating piece of armory. “Players will become an unstoppable machine of destruction when they ascend their weapons to this level”. And speaking of weapons available, this update also includes 3 new toys to the already extensive weaponry of the King of Darkness. A new sword, scythe and pair of pistols have been added with different designs and properties, including the possibility of ascending them to “Summum” level. This new batch of tools of destruction will make each adventure even more unique.
Within the customization options, the expansion of the King of Darkness skill tree stands out with the inclusion of 3 new powers, as well as new seed genes, making the variety of scenarios and situations even greater. Another great addition is the ability to change the appearance of the King. Thanks to crafting blueprints, players will be able to alternate the character’s armour with different colour combinations.
Several improvements to the user interface have been added, making navigation through the game menus much more intuitive, as well as information about certain consumables, and indicators in the health bars and the HUD. To top it off, the new Summum Aeterna update also introduces a new mini-boss called “Djaderas, Master of the Forbidden Arts.” This enemy is added to the 3 already available members of the Grim Horde and offers a brutal combat sequence.
