ALL THE DETAILS OF BILLETE COHETE REVEALED, THE GAME KITCHEN’S VIDEO GAME INCUBATOR

Mauricio García, director of the studio The Game Kitchen, responsible for the successful indie title Blasphemous, has presented Billete Cohete, the incubator founded by the studio itself to encourage the creation of new development studios.

It is an initiative for teams of novice developers looking for their first experience of professional development. Unlike other incubation models, Billete Cohete seeks to provide teams with all the theoretical knowledge, as well as the financial means, so that they can develop their first video game.

Billete Cohete was also born with the intention of creating a catalog of quality games that are capable of challenging the expectations of the players, with valuable and meaningful experiences. Billete Cohete’s differentiating facts

The presented incubation formula is completely different from the rest of the existing formulas. The interested teams present themselves to the incubator, study the agenda, learn how to generate an idea, and once the ideas are validated, the selected teams go to the incubator. Billete Cohete will offer an employment contract to all team members to develop a first game as a commission for the incubator.
The formula also allows the incubator itself to be sustainable, so the number of teams in the program can grow over time.

The incubator will host teams of up to 5 members, including one in charge of the production and administration of the future studio. To access the incubation program, it will be essential to be open to create any type of game, since the program begins with an exhaustive idea generation phase that guarantees that time and effort is only invested in a project with a real chance of surviving in the saturated video game market.

The program will offer applicants a theoretical agenda that, according to Billete Cohete, is the best training content on production, marketing and business development for new indies today. This content will be available to teams that apply to the program, but will also be released later for anyone interested in the matter, through the incubator’s Patreon channel. The incubated projects will have an approximate duration of 6 months, and a team budget of 50.000€. Initially, the program will be able to incubate two teams simultaneously, but aims to expand this number as the results of the first incubated titles are reaped.

Mauricio also revealed details about the first two games that are being produced in the pilot test of the program. Escape from Galaxen, the first incubator’s project, on sale in early 2022

The first of the games to come out of the incubator is Escape from Galaxen, a shoot ’em up in virtual reality in which we will travel to 1985, when our favorite arcade will capture us… literally! Ramen Profitable Games, the developer studio, invites us to feel how a martian killer is experienced from the inside. The game will be available on the Meta Quest Store for Oculus Quest 1 and 2, but  impatient players can now try the free alpha available on Sidequest. You can see the trailer here.

They also announced that the Sepia Games team has recently joined the program, and they have started working on a game that will offer us spooky adventures of “popcorn terror” through a dating-sim with the interface of a dating application. The game is called Dread Swipes and will be available for PC and consoles in 2022.
