Next week, BIG Digital — the fully online version of Latin America’s largest video games industry event, Brazil’s Independent Games (BIG) Festival — will present an incredible line up of free seminars — both in English and Portuguese — by some of the world’s most exciting voices in the international games industry.
On June 25, Marcos Silva, co-founder and partner of Sue the Real — an independent game development studio focusing on Afro-Bazilian narratives — seeks to challenge the status quo of the video game industry by highlighting Afro-Brazilian studios and telling their stories during the panel “Welcoming Diverse Perspectives to Broaden Gaming Experiences“. In this panel, the team will discuss the dominance of the white male perspective in video game storytelling and design, and the importance of elevating new, lesser-known voices from marginalized communities in an effort to bring about positive change and new experiences to the medium.
