The update for the zany co-op roguelite is available on consoles from today, serving up a new adventure, new character, new ships, and more!

Fika Productions and Team17 Digital have today announced that histrionic solo or two-player co-op roguelite Ship of Fools has launched its first free update ‘Fish & Ships’. As the first update lands on Xbox consoles, PlayStation®5, and Nintendo Switch™, it opens the Great Lighthouse – the landmark right at the heart of the game’s hub – and sets the anthropomorphic Fools on a journey to restore the building to its former glory. This series of increasingly difficult challenges will test the most seasoned seafarers to their limits and provide a bounty of unique rewards.

Also arriving in the archipelago with this update is a brand-new character, ‘Otto, the reverse Kraken’ who can whip up three new pilotable ships, each with its own unique ammunition, artefacts, and challenges for players to complete.

Players who can’t get enough of the Fools can also pick up the ‘Water Garden Duo’ and ‘Deep Sea Duo’ paid DLC packs on all platforms. ‘Water Garden Duo’ introduces a new fool-midable pair Mikoi and Noh, who can deal devastating damage with their sound blast attacks and lightning speed, whereas ‘Deep Sea Duo’ adds Angus and Jules to the crew, who can reduce reflected damage taken, and dredge the depths for trinkets.

Ship of Fools key features:

  • Bombastic combat – Frantic ship-based combat against colossal leviathans and horrifying creatures from across the deep, dark waters of the Archipelago
  • Frantic co-op experience – Designed from the keel up for co-op play, manage ship repairs in the heat of battle, reload and re-manoeuvre cannons, and use paddles to strike enemies as they board the Stormstrider
  • Endless replayability – Upgrade your crew and unlock items and additional Fools to take on the ever-changing seas, with multiple runs needed to avert the Aquapocalypse.
