The Eternal Night has descended on the Forest of Davokar. Free League Publishing today revealed the very first art and the key features for Davokar Awakens, the highly anticipated expansion for the acclaimed dark fantasy RPG Symbaroum. The pre-order is now live in the Free League webshop and gives immediate early access to a full PDF of the expansion, ahead of the retail release in Q4 2023. The pre-order campaign includes an exclusive digital artbook with artworks by Gustaf Ekelund and Martin Grip.

The darkness that for centuries has been fettered by the roots of the woods breaks free and spreads in all directions; the living are faced with a seemingly hopeless fight against a never-ending flood of merciless enemies. But is all hope lost? The time has finally come to explore the final chapter of the epic The Chronicle of the Throne of Thorns in which the fate of the world is decided.
Be prepared, for the challenges in this adventure will push you to the limits of your capabilities. Symbaroum: Davokar Awakens is the sixth part of the epic Chronicle of the Throne of Thorns. Depending on the choice of the gaming group the episodes can be played as standalone adventures or as one massive campaign, as they are all part of the same epic saga.
The art is created by Martin Grip (The One Ring™ RPG, Blade Runner RPG, ALIEN RPG) and Gustaf Ekelund (Coriolis, Twilight: 2000, ALIEN RPG), and the adventure is designed by game writer Mattias Johnsson Haake, co-creator of Symbaroum.
Symbaroum: Davokar Awakens features:
- The adventure Davokar Awakens, where the players are given a chance to impact the fight for the Throne of Thorns, and thereby the future of the game world.
- Maps and descriptions of a dozen adventure locations, brimming with tough challenges, colorful characters, mystical treasures, and historical artifacts.
- Guidelines for journeys in the awakened Davokar, complemented with new event tables and over a dozen pre-made scenes to introduce where you see fit.
- A chapter on the battle against the darkness, with descriptions of both defending and attacking units.
- New treasure tables, new artifacts, and a customized list of mishaps which can affect uninformed or ill-prepared adventurers.
Please note that the expansion requires access to the Symbaroum Core Rulebook, and that it does not come into its own without the Advanced Player’s Guide, Game Master’s Guide, and Monster Codex.
Symbaroum: Davokar Awakens pre-order campaign
The Symbaroum: Davokar Awakens pre-order bundle includes a set of four double-sided full-color adventure maps at a discounted price.
During the pre-order, a Foundry VTT Bundle will also be available, with modules of all six episodes in the Chronicle of the Throne of Thorns. The first five episodes are ready to be played, while the sixth and final episode will be updated to a fully playable version before the official release.
