Over 4000 plus attendees, Over 200+ Speakers and 125 hyperactive sessions at South Asia’s Biggest and Most Significant Developer Conference
Gaming experts from across the globe have converged at HICC Hyderabad as the three-day India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) kicked off in its 15th annual avatar. The high octane event has seen an overwhelming response with over 4000 plus attendees and will witness over 200+ speakers and 125 hyperactive sessions during the three-day conference. The expo at IGDC has over 100+ gaming companies showcasing their games and products.
There were also special sessions by conference partners: Unreal Developer Day, Xbox Discovery Day, Unity Dev and Google Dev sessions running parallelly.
The conference kicked off with the launch of the ‘Lumikai State of India Gaming report FY23,’ in collaboration with Google. The report was launched by Salone Sehgal and Justin Shriram Keeling, Founding General Partners, Lumikai. According to the report the Indian gaming market is expected to hit the $7.5 Bn valuation mark by FY28. The report cited several interesting insights that show the significant growth in the last few years.
Other significant findings from the Lumikai report included:
● Demand for games in India was robust with 15.4 Bn gaming downloads in FY23
● There are over 568 Mn gamers in the country – over 50% of all Indian internet users
● 140 Mn gamers today are paying users, an increase of 17% YoY
● The report anticipates a robust industry growth rate of 20% CAGR, driven primarily by increasing in-app purchases in casual and mid-core games and growing in-game advertising revenues
● 50% of gamers in the country fall within the age bracket of 18-30 years, with a male-to-female ratio of roughly 60:40
● The report highlights the increase in the number of gamers from non-metro cities from 57% in FY22 to 66% in FY23
● 62% of users claim that UPI is their preferred mode of payment for games.
