New Video | Geralt of Rivia Voice Actor Doug Cockle Doesn’t Know the Infamous Skyrim Intro
Prolific voice actor Doug Cockle is known for his beloved performance as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher video game series. But even from a position of great esteem in the gaming realm, he’s made it clear that the infamous Skyrim intro—in meme format or otherwise—has managed to elude him all these years.
In a recent promotional video for the now-available AFK Arena and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crossover, Doug playfully reads lines sent in from the community as his iconic character, poised as “What would you like Geralt to say to you when you wake up in the morning?” Amid plenty of cheeky and ~suggestive~ innuendos, one community member sent in the one line to rule them all: “Hey, you. You’re finally awake.” The player that sent in the line added “if you know you know,” to which Doug quipped that he definitely didn’t know.
In the video, Doug answers some questions from fans and playfully teases the AFK Arena community for some of their more “strange” voice line suggestions. Finally, Doug reminds viewers that the AFK Arena and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crossover is now active in the game on iOS and Android devices and that both Geralt and Yennefer are available as playable heroes to help players “whoop some butt” in the arena.
Doug Cockle provided the voices for video game characters since the early 2000s, with Geralt of Rivia as his most iconic role. He’s voiced The Witcher character since the series’ 2007 debut. In addition to his AFK Arena appearance, he’s also reprised the role when Geralt ventured into Soulcalibur IV and Monster Hunter World. He earned Best Gaming Performance for his portrayal of the character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at the UK’s Golden Joystick Awards.
