An Early Access to moon colonies. Scorchlands starts its space expedition with magic and technology on Steam right now
Commencing countdown, engines on… sort of. In Scorchlands, the birdfolk of Giwi will begin their space exploration in a most peculiar way – by mixing technology and magic to launch a science expedition and find new terraforming methods. The brave scientists have a long journey ahead and the developers from Ringlab promise players to be with them all the way through Steam’s Early Access.
The birdfolk looked up to the skies and dreamt of space travel for ages. Their curiosity of going where no feathered being has gone before set the goal for their latest expedition – the hostile surface of the moon Helia. With the right magic and technology they want to conquer this satellite and discover the mysteries it hides.
Watch the latest trailer for Scorchlands:
For the mission to succeed, the Giwi will have to construct not one, but several bases on the moon’s surface and use all their tricks to terraform the environment. Soon the desolate volcanic desert will be teeming with pastures, forests and lakes. The colonies will be connected with lasers, which transport resources between distant colonies, and as new problems arise – science will have to find a solution. A robust tech-tree will allow the expedition to find their own way of taming the moon, which proves to be a sandbox for creative solutions and inventions.
The chaotic magic of Helia is one of the problems in front of them. It created terrifying beasts that stand in the way of the birdfolk. All magical and scientific punches are allowed to defeat these enemies and claim new territory. The moon will not be passive and will react to any changes to its surface, spawning new creatures as a side effect of terraforming.
The developers at Ringlab with their partners at Star Drifters promise full support of Scorchlands through its Early Access stage. The game’s roadmap leading to the full release includes adding new biomes for terraforming, balance changes and a wide variety of available options for the player to use.
Main game features:
· Hex grid-based city-building – construct various buildings in your colonies. Each structure’s productivity depends on neighboring resources and other constructions.
· Complex resource management – it’s not only about extracting materials. Scorchlands takes account of logistics – the movement of resources between colonies and combining them in robust processing chains. And yes, we move resources using LASERS!
· Terraforming for the greater good – use magic and technology to change the biomes on procedurally generated maps and exploit the new environment to gain its unique resources.
· Technology designed to give fun – there’s no fun in a sandbox if you don’t have the toys to play with. The technology system in Scorchlands is key for player progression and new discoveries open up new ways to play with the game world.
· Minimalistic combat system – when you get into a fight, positioning will be key. Destroy your enemies by surrounding them and placing your forces in optimal locations.
Scorchlands lands in Steam’s Early Access today for 11,99 USD. It will have a 10% discount in its release week. Feel free to contact us for review keys and additional questions for the team
