Your pals at Dead Good Media are here to help you get the party startled with two horror games on offer this year: Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials and NACON’s Ad Infinitum.
| Published and developed by Red Barrels, The Outlast Trials is a multiplayer co-op horror title currently available in Early Access. The highly-anticipated new entry to the Outlast series invites you to experience mind-numbing terror, this time with friends. Whether you go through the trials alone or in teams, if you survive long enough and complete the therapy, Murkoff will happily let you leave… but will you be the same? Set in the era of the Cold War, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good folks at the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of distrust, fear, and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested, and your sanity crushed. All in the name of progress, science, and profit. The game’s Early Access launch in May was met with critical acclaim for those who’ve braved the mind-numbing terror, whether that’s surviving alongside friends or daring to go alone. And to get into the spooky spirit, Red Barrels is delivering a special Halloween Major Update. This update promises an array of spine-chilling additions, including the introduction of Program 4, a new Trial, new MK-Challenges, a Program X refresh, and a limited-time Program Halloween event complete with special rewards. | And that’s not the only terror to have crept out of the Dead Good crypt. Releasing for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC this week on September 14, publisher NACON and developer Hekate are delighted to present their first-person survival horror title Ad Infinitum. Ad Infinitum pulls the player into the twisted, troubled mind of a young German soldier suffering from hallucinations. Lost between reality and illusion, he faces a genuine psychological battle against himself. This new trailer conveys the oppressive, macabre atmosphere prevailing in the game, providing a glimpse of some of the different environments and gameplay types. It also shows some new creatures, as a preview of the terrors awaiting the player as the story unfolds. Will they choose to face them or understand them? Their decision will affect how the game ends. The line separating nightmare and reality is becoming increasingly blurred. In Ad Infinitum, you play as a young German soldier haunted by the horrors of the Great War. Trapped between two realities, you wander through a vast mansion and the trenches of WW1 where you must fend off the terrible creatures that are coming after you. |
