How to take your survival strategy to the next level in Stranded: Alien Dawn
Acclaimed planet survival sim Stranded: Alien Dawn launched earlier this year on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, and Xbox One. With the fate of your marooned crew entirely in your hands as you build and evolve a unique base, brave brutal weather conditions, overcome mysterious illnesses, and battle hostile alien wildlife, it’s vital that your strategy is watertight.
We’ve put together ten lesser-known tips that will help even the most seasoned players stay alive for longer, and we wanted to share these with you for some additional tips for a potential game guide article!
Use natural defences
When choosing the spot on which to build your base, look at the landscape for protection or added visibility. For example, a rock outcrop could create a barrier against attacks, while a lake provides an additional obstacle for alien wildlife.
Start medical research early
Antibiotics could be one of your survivors’ most important discoveries, saving lives and enhancing recovery. Research them as early as possible to prevent loss of life at a critical stage in the development of your base.
A robust fortress
Wooden fortifications will outlast flimsier fences. Look to research them as soon as possible to give your base even more protection.
Heavy metal
Since scrap metal tends to be more valuable in the later stages of the game, consider building stick shelters where possible at the start of your scenario.
Watch your diet
Keep a close eye on your survivors and make sure you prevent them from consuming poisonous items such as glitter caps and raw meat.
Syrup on tap
With excellent nourishment properties, syrup is a resource well worth stockpiling to sustain your group in times of scarcity, even if the survivors need to travel some distance to obtain it.
Preserve some clothing for winter
During warmer weather, ensure your survivors remove any jackets or hats to keep them in good condition for the winter, when they’ll definitely benefit from the extra layers!
A well-oiled machine
Use the ‘make until’ feature to keep essential activities such as tailoring, oils, and metal alloys in progress. Place multiple craft and research benches to speed up those processes, too.
Chill out
Air conditioners can create cold spaces in place of fridges and freezers, which can be handy for storing extra food and ensuring it lasts longer.
Optimal storage
Consider using wardrobes for clothing and weapons, but open storage for any other items, for easy and efficient access.
