Indie hostile-puzzler hit Mosa Lina announces new Director’s Cut update… that removes content from the game!

You might not think you can solve a puzzle with only a few boxes, six fishes , and a bomb, but in Mosa Lina you can.

Following its positive reception, indie development studio Stuffed Wombat (qomp) has announced the new update for Mosa Lina, coming March 14th (today) with the start of the Steam Spring Sale. Mosa Lina: The Director’s Cut, will be removing some previously released content whilst adding new levels and QoL changes, all in the service of the game a renewed focus on its original hostile puzzler roots.

Last year, the indie immersive sim was a hit on Youtube, wowing game design-focused channels like Game Maker’s Toolkit with its innovative take on the genre. Randomly given 3 physical based tools, it’s up to you to use your creativity to figure out a solution to each level.

About the game

Mosa Lina is a physics-driven puzzle game. Solve puzzles with randomised gameplay; mix and match tools the game gives you to collect coins and open a portal. You might get the same item ten times in a row, or you might beat the game without seeing it at all. Every playthrough is different and solving puzzles will rely on your creativity – there are no rules, no guides, and no help!

News Summary

Hostile interpretation sim Mosa Lina, developed by indie studio Stuffed Wombat (qomp), is getting The Director’s Cut on March 14th. The game, where nothing is planned and everything works, will be getting new levels, QoL improvements, and the deletion of some content so that the game gains a renewed focus back to its original hostile puzzler roots.

About the game

A puzzle game where there are no solutions, only rules. Nothing is planned and everything works. Mosa Lina is a physics-driven puzzle game, where every ability is perfectly suited to solve a specific problem. The goal is simple: collect coins and open a portal. But how you do that is entirely up to you. Use whatever is at your disposal – you might get the same item ten times in a row; you might beat the game without seeing it at all. Unleash your creativity, for it’s your compass – there are no rules, no guides, and no help.

The Director’s Cut

The final update brings with it new levels, QoL improvements, and a renewed focus on Mosa Lina‘s hostile puzzler roots.

The game will have removed: The Backflip, Turtle, Spikedrop, Moon, and Worm. While these tools fulfilled the function of increasing randomization and giving players more creative options, Stuffed Wombat is hoping to make changes that will integrate more seamlessly with the rest of the game.

The Director’s Cut will see added: an option to turn Backflip, Turtle, Spikedrop, Moon, and Worm back on; sliding scale audio settings, keybind integration into the menu; and more levels using already existing obstacles.

Features:

  • Test your creativity to solve head-scratching puzzles.
  • Collect fruits and open a portal.
  • Mix and match tools to accomplish your goal (though the game decides which ones you get).
  • Random modifiers can change every level
  • Yeehaw.
