Jon Jordan Joins Hiro Capital as Venture Specialist for Blockchain Gaming

The games industry is changing fast and blockchain is the latest technology to offer sector-wide opportunity, potentially turning a $200 billion-a-year industry in 2021 into a trillion dollar market by 2030.

Hiro Capital was founded to invest in Games and the Metaverse. The fund is named after Hiro Protagonist, the sword-wielding, Metaverse-hacking samurai hero of Neil Stephenson’s seminal Snowcrash. Hiro has been investing in games, sci-fi, story-telling and the deep future of games and games technology since 2018.

So in keeping with its focus on investing in the next wave of games disruption, Hiro Capital is building out its capacity to ensure it makes the most of blockchain games opportunities, while swerving the inevitable pitfalls.

Enter Hiro Capital’s latest hire Jon Jordan

A co-founder at Pocket Gamer media outfit Steel Media, Jon is a blockchain gaming OG, who has been involved in the space since 2018 as a player, NFT accumulator and influencer (via his Blockchain Gaming World podcast and YouTube channel), and as a blockchain game consultant. Jon will lead Hiro Capital’s activity looking at the most promising projects in this rapidly expanding space.

“Jon is super smart and insightful on blockchain specifically and on games in general. At Hiro we have team members who have founded games unicorns and team members who have built blockchain tech stacks. Jon is a thoughtful and astute expert in the sector and is a great addition to our team.”

Said Luke Alvarez, Founding Partner of Hiro Capital.

Jon had the following to say about joining the Hiro Capital team.

“For the past four years, I’ve been talking to innovative game makers who are fascinated by the potential to combine the ownership of digital assets with gaming. Now as part of Hiro Capital, I look forward to investing in the projects that will take this technology mainstream and create entirely new ways of playing games and building online communities.”

Hiro welcomes Jon at a key time in the game market. Blockchain titles have been generating a lot of headlines, with leading games platforms choosing either to actively reject or enthusiastically embrace the technology.
