Ovid Works Wins a Prestigious Award for Metamorphosis

Ovid Works, soundtrack authors for Metamorphosis and part of the All in! Games portfolio, received the SCL award from the American Society of Composers & Lyricists. Among the other winners were creators of music for the popular Netflix series, “The Queen’s Gambit”, the film “Eurovision: The History of the Fire Saga”, and Disney and Pixar’s production, “What in the soul is playing”.

It is a great honor for all people working on Metamorphosis. We are proud that together with the Ovid Works studio and outstanding composers, Garry Schyman and Mikołaj Stroinski, we are in such a prestigious group. Music is an extremely important element of this game and we believe that the award will positively influence the interest in our title. The composers who worked on the music for Metamorphosis are outstanding artists with incredible achievements and many industry awards. The extraordinary artistic level is evidenced by the fact that we decided to release the game soundtrack (OST) on the Steam platform and it is very popular among players.- Piotr Żygadło, CEO of  All in! Games.

From the onset we knew that the music of Metamorphosis would create a key part of the mood we wanted to convey. The experimental approach of Garry and Mikolai was perfectly suited and our collaboration created a fantastic soundtrack. We couldn’t be happier with the result of their wise interplay with references, which reflected our own approach to the source material.  – Zaq Chojecki, Game Director.

The SCL Awards Ceremony was held online and was hosted by Michael Giacchino, the author of the music for “Rogue One: Star Wars Stories”, “Star Trek: into the Unknown”, the Lost TV series, the Medal of Honor games and Call of Duty.
Metamorphosis triumphed in the “Outstanding Original Score for Interactive Media” category, with music from Star Wars: Squadrons and Ghost of Tsushima among the nominees.
The Metamorphosis soundtrack reflects the dark, bizarre, Kafkaesque and surreal atmosphere of the game and harkens back to the expressionist art and music of the early 20th century. It uses musical techniques used in this period, such as Sprechgesang (half-voice, half-singing), the twelve-note technique, aleatorism, tonality, or atonality.
The authors of the soundtrack are Garry Schymanem and Mikołaj Stroinski. Garry Schymanem has worked on many TV productions (including “Magnum”, “A Team”) and game productions (Voyeur, Destroy All Humans !, BioShock, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor). He was nominated or won the Cybermania Award, Game Audio Network Guild, International Film Critics Association (Category: Best Original Score for a Video Game or Interactive Media), Hollywood Music Award (Best Original Score- Video Game), Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences or BAFTA Games Award.
Mikołaj Stroinski is an American composer of Polish origin, who graduated from the Academy of Music in Katowice. He created music for the largest television and game productions in the USA (including League of Legends, Age of Empires, Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3). For his work, he was awarded with IGN Awards, Digital Dragons, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, The Game Awards, Playstation Best Soundtrack, Best Video Game Album, Global Game Awards, or GDC Awards.
