Asymmetric heist game Asym Altered Axis straddles two genres: cooperative stealth action base raiding and real-time strategy base defence.
The game takes place in the current day, and the players are immigrants to “Asym,” a parallel digital universe to the one in which they are competing for a resource called Cell. A strategic player puts up traps on their stage and guards a priceless Nexus against a group of active players trying to take it and flee.
CREATE ＆ PROTECT： The Strategy Side
To steal the priceless Nexus, the active player team will carefully penetrate a level that the strategy player has put up, complete with traps and units. The strategic player can buy new traps and items to bolster their stage by using the Cell they received as a reward for winning combat.
The conflict begins in complete darkness, with the Strategy player using a spotlight from above to monitor the neon-glowing Action players. To defend the Nexus, the Strategy player can hurl fireballs, call in guards, and set a vast area of the landscape on fire to block a path.
INFILTRATE ＆ ESCAPE： The Action Side
Up to five action players collaborate to sneak onto the strategy player’s stage at night. To avoid detection and kill patrolling guards, they can utilise sidearms, smoke grenades, and even temporarily turn into an animal to escape more quickly.
The stage suddenly lights up and all traps come alive whenever the action players are discovered or the Nexus is stolen, drastically altering the game’s pace from suspenseful stealth action to a spectacular cat-and-mouse pursuit! To protect the Cell you stole, leave the gateway.
Who will win, the Action players who successfully grab the Nexus and flee, or the Strategy players who successfully guard their loot?
In the cross-genre asymmetric heist game Asym Altered Axis, one player competes in real-time tactics versus up to five opponents in cooperative stealth action.
Gameplay: Up to 5 Action Players band together and infiltrate the stage to steal the priceless Cell Nexus while the Strategy Player sets up a stage with traps and units and tries to hunt down the infiltrators from above.
