PREVIEW : Hexia (PC)

Hexia is a hex-based kingdom-building game that is both enjoyable and soothing. You’ll need to achieve various objectives for each “phase” of the campaign, and you’ll be able to upgrade and downgrade as you go. The game is still in development, hence the early access classification, and there is only one campaign available right now. I believe the game provides a nice/sufficient range of events and tile kinds, while additional variation isn’t a bad idea.

Features

  • Hexia is a simple and intuitive game in which you must explore, develop your wealth, and gain favour by building a massive kingdom.
  • Each decision you make will have a significant impact on the events that unfold during the game. Whether you help nobility, imprison a witch, or forgo building better roads, your actions will have an impact on the game’s ending.

  • Single-player mode centred on kingdom management. Take pleasure in the events that will mould your new universe.
  • The universe of Hexia will provide you with difficulties; it will be up to you to determine whether to meet them or let them erode your empire over time.
  • Every game will be different from the one before it.
  • The game is always evolving. We believe in our work and take it seriously, even though we are a tiny team of two.

Moving across the map with WASD or the arrow keys is too slow. It’d be fantastic if we could right-click and drag the map around. Also, because the game appears to be 3D (I believe? ), you can use the (right) click and hold function to allow the player to rotate the map! It’d be useful for screenshots and other purposes.

1. Please allow us to use the “right-click” function in the game!

2 . The time acceleration may be a little faster.

I spend a lot of time in the game just sitting back and staring at the screen. Even though the game contains certain components of idle gameplay, I, and I’m sure many other gamers, would prefer the time to pass much more quickly. After all, if it’s moving too quickly, we can hit “pause.”

3. The upgrade button can be difficult to press at times.

It’s not a matter of the button being too small or anything. It’s only that there have been moments when I wanted to upgrade a tile but instead expanded a tile, as you can see in my playthrough video. It’s not a significant problem, but it can be inconvenient.

Overall

Count me in as a supporter! Despite being in early access, I had a lot of fun playing Hexia’s single campaign and appreciated the gameplay. I skipped all the texts in the tile-based events I’ve faced at times, especially in the later phases, but I’m just trying to speed things up to get to writing the review faster. Plus, if you want to read the text, you can always pause my video!

Because of the absence of content, the game’s price may be slightly higher at the moment. I’m not sure how many campaigns the game will feature in total once it’s finished or whether it will have additional types of replayability to justify the price, so I’d recommend putting it on your wishlist for the time being and checking back in a month or two.
