PREVIEW : Melon Journey 2 (PC)

This time under the magnifying glass is the game named Melon Journey 2 it’s a game in early access. Like most games this is going to have a mixed fan base because the concept of the game is unique and adorable I think but this may not be the case for many of you. Melon Journey 2 is an exploration game that focuses on revisiting a town full of adorable animal-like creatures with great personalities. But under this cute and adorable lies the dark truth of crime and corruption. The game is developed by Froach Club and Published by Poppy Works in June 2020.

REVIEW : Melon Journey 2 (PC)

The complete version of the game hasn’t been released and even the release date is yet to be announced for the pc. So when you start the what I encountered was a bug it opens a screen with options like load, save, G, variable, switches, Battles, and items which don’t make any sense as I had press new, to start a new game but instead this is what was on my screen. For anyone, this will not make any sense I tried opening all the options but the only thing that made sense was load and save whereas the rest were made no sense as I had no idea what does this variable mean and does in the game. After two or three times of going back to min introductory screen, my game finally started. The first screen popped up now was to enter my desired name but the game offers a default name which is “HoneyDew” which can be changed and then you get a screen where you have to decide your friend’s name game also has a default name for this character that is “Cantaloupe” yes you read it right. After this game plays a video that gives the back story of the game.

REVIEW : Melon Journey 2 (PC)

Onto the Backstory of the game, we will be playing as “Honeydew” who is an employee at this huge melon factory. As the story unfolds we will be travelling to a place called “Hog Town” to meet your friend Cantaloupe after a long time so you grab his briefcase and board a train. Now Hog Town is a place where Melons are an illegal substance. So while your character is travelling he’s thinking if things have changed there or not. When you reach Hog Town you discover that your friend is missing and you have to find him. And to do so you have to search the area and speak with various suspicious characters in different dangerous situations to find what happened. So this is the complete story and plot of the game and I think it’s quite well defined and good and is working well with the theme of the game. The game offers some special features like 5+ hours of game time, 5 different side plots and, many minor arcs to experience and what amazed me most was 50+ sound-tracks. Amazingly, they managed to put more than 50 songs in the game suiting the theme depending on the situation you are in. Also, the game can be played in 13 different languages including English, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and many more so that players can play the game easily.

REVIEW : Melon Journey 2 (PC)

When you look at the design of the game is not that impressive it like a game which cam of out storage after many years while cleaning. The graphics are not that great and it’s more like how they used to be in the past like how the original Pokémon game use to be. The game works in a small window and under that window conversations between 2 characters will be displayed. The graphic interface of the game isn’t much so any common system can be used to play the game. Though the recommended configurations for the game are a 2Ghz processor, 1Gb Ram, and 1Gb graphic card. Which is not that much and any most basic system can fulfil these specs.

REVIEW : Melon Journey 2 (PC)

Coming to the end there are bugs in this game and considering the love that Melon Journey 1 received from the players Melon journey 2 being its successor has to perform well to keep the franchise going and these bugs like crashing of the game at random and opening of wrong windows must be resolved before the full version of the game is released in the market. Also, the game gets slow and boring at times which is a buzz kill and can drop anyone’s interest. The price of the game has not been declared yet and based on the graphics and story I don’t think so it should be much. All together the game is tied together quite well in the story, the music, and, graphics which give you a nostalgic feel while this feels good to some people in this era where the gaming industry has advanced so much many players will not be choosing this game due to its graphic. I think the game has a lot more to offer and while only the demo version is released I hope the complete version will be a lot better and bug-free. There is not much in this game that will leave players scratching their heads. It’s a simple game with a wide scope which can be both its downfall and the rising factor. I will recommend this game only if you are a fan of this series and enjoy games that give a nostalgic feel.
