PREVIEW : Submerged: Hidden Depths (PC)

Sometimes you just want to play an action-packed game. It’s a fast-paced shooter with some excellent racing action. A title that gets your pulse pounding and your heart racing. But, on the other hand, there are moments when you simply want to relax and unwind. Submerged: Hidden Depths is a game developed and released by Uppercut Games. I like how you described it as a “genuine expedition,” because that is exactly what Submerged: Hidden Depths is about.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is a non-combat third-person “real exploration” adventure set in a gorgeous world’s buried ruins. Take on the roles of Miku and Taku, two people who have been cursed with a mysterious gift that they want to utilise for good, and one who is determined not to let it break them apart. A drowned city with skyscraper spires bravely rising above the waves. Villages that have been abandoned and are now inhabited by strange creatures. And behind the raging sea lurks an agonised, enraged entity.

So you take on the roles of Miku and Taku, and the game’s main goal is to rid the area of a dark plant-like growth. The planet you’re in has been flooded and is now mostly underwater, with just the tops of buildings and structures protruding above the water’s surface, forming archipelagos. You travel from archipelago to archipelago using your boat as a mode of transportation to explore the various locales. To purify the source of the dark plant-like growth, find a seed and return it there.

Submerged: Hidden Depths is mostly about that, but there is a lot more to see and do along the route. Discover different creatures, learn about their histories, look for treasures to place in a museum, enhance your boat, and more. The longer you play, the more the tale unfolds, and diaries you uncover along the way will disclose more and more of what’s going on.

The gameplay is straightforward. There are some simple puzzles to solve, and exploring the archipelagos entails rope swinging, climbing, and other activities. All of this is rather simple to manage and comprehend. The techniques used here are simple, and while they aren’t groundbreaking, they are effective. It’s a lot of fun to control the characters and the boat. Submerged: Hidden Depths is also aesthetically pleasing. A cartoonish but breathtakingly gorgeous landscape with much to keep your eyes occupied and happy. This is a zero-combat game, as stated in the game’s description. Submerged: Hidden Depths is a’real exploration’ game that is all about chilling out, relaxing, and exploring the world you’re in. So, if you’re hoping for a lot of activity, this isn’t the place for you. Take a look at this game if you want to calm things down a little and enjoy a slowly unfolding tale and a game with a relaxed pace. I’m looking forward to delving deeper into this topic later. However, if you’re looking for something a little more ‘chilled,’ I recommend Submerged: Hidden Depths.
