Nightmare Arena DLC
On October 25, 2022, I released the Nightmare Arena DLC for $2.99.
- Over 40 super challenging arena battles against twisted nightmare versions of enemies.
- An extremely difficult superboss.
- Awesome rewards that you can use in the base game, including brand new AOE damage summon skills.
- XP system that limits the amount of XP you can use for your party on battles so you can’t just grind through them.
New Content & Updates
The main new content added to the base game for free was the Sticker Collection. Each enemy has a sticker to collect, and you can place, resize, and rotate them on sticker pages.
There have also been several fixes, accessibility features, and balance changes since release.
What is Video Game Fables?
Video Game Fables is a funny, lighthearted adventure set in an abandoned RPG game world that hasn’t had a player in decades. It asks the question: “What would happen to a game world and its inhabitants without a player? Would they age? Would they have lives without a script to follow?”
- Your party consists of Aru (the world’s current princess), Nate (an NPC aspiring to be a hero), and Tator (the villain’s son).
- Fun, challenging, fast-paced turn-based combat with lots of unique mechanics and twists on traditional RPG battles. Examples: there is a timer that gives you a bonus when you make decisions quickly; and when you get a Critical Hit it gets stored as a resource you can use on an attack of your choosing later.
- The story, characters, world, and dialog are lighthearted, funny, and colorful.
- Takes about 12 hours to finish.
- Has a free demo that lets you play from the beginning of the game up through the first dungeon. You can also carry over your demo save data to the full game.
- Has inspiration and vibes from games like Paper Mario, Earthbound, and Undertale. It has allusions to older RPGs such as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, but has its own identity and humor without relying only on parody.
