Railroads Online New map and more content are now available as free update
Just in time for Railroads Online’s second anniversary, developer Stefan Kelnberger and publisher astragon Entertainment are making more brand-new content free of charge available to the community. A new map, a new locomotive and more building variations will add even more content to the game.
New map, locomotive and buildings
Fans of Railroads Online can look forward to more content on the railway simulation’s birthday. A new map called Lake Valley will be added as an open sandbox game world. The map, which is also inspired by North American landscapes, features iconic mountains and a large lake in the middle of the map, which will have a major influence on the construction of your own railway network. With additional areas such as swampland and desert, new trees and other environmental details, Lake Valley is both diverse and challenging. Buildings can also be placed in the game world, and the update adds a church and a small train station. Another major change is that industrial buildings for the production chain can now be placed by the host. This gives players even more freedom to design their own world. Additionally, the Lima Locomotive enters the game.
Community Trailer and Early Access Roadmap
The Anniversary Update is the first of many free updates still to come. Until the release of the full version, fans of Railroads Online can expect further updates. In addition to new content, the focus will also be on game improvements that will further enhance the game experience for current and new players in the long term. Railroads Online is already available in Steam Early Access and costs 29.99€/34.99$/27.99£. Railroads Online has been developed by Stefan Kelnberger, together with various artists. Since the end of 2022, astragon Entertainment has been responsible for the game as publisher.
About Railroads Online
In Railroads Online, players create the railroad network of their dreams. In a large open game world, rails, switches, and stations must be built in order to transport different goods in authentic locomotives. The map is based on Americas Midwest, in a time known as the golden age of narrow-gauge railroading. Through profitable management of the players, more vehicles or wagons can be unlocked.
Railroads Online features both singleplayer and multiplayer mode with up to 16 players. In order to build a seamlessly functioning rail network as efficiently as possible, joint projects must be planned and tackled together in multiplayer. A good division of labor helps to complete several tasks independently of each other. Railroads Online uses the advanced physics systems of the Unreal Engine to create the most authentic railroad simulation possible, rendering collisions and forces dynamically in real time for maximum immersion. This can sometimes cause trains or wagons to derail if the curves are too tight or sections of track are driven by players at too much speed.
