REVIEW : Climber: Sky is the limit (PC)

Action-adventure game Climber: Sky is the Limit has a distinct simulation and survival features. Because we take on the character of a climber who scales the tallest mountains in the world in the winter, the game allows us to experience what it must have been like for Denis Urubko or Adam Bielecki. A2 Softworks, an independent Polish production company, created the piece.

REVIEW : Climber: Sky is the limit (PC)

We get a first-person view of the action in Climber: Sky is the Limit (FPP). We participate in mountain adventures, and each one begins with finding sponsors and purchasing the required supplies and food. The base camp at the foot of the Himalayas is then reached.

We can select the eight-thousander and the road leading to it by consulting a map of the mountains while seated in a pretty warm and secure tent. Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Nanga Parbat, Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu are among the peaks that are accessible. It is important to keep in mind that occasionally taking a longer route is simpler and safer than taking the shortest one.

The only thing left to do is gather the supplies needed to survive in the high mountains and start travelling. It is difficult because each piece of equipment has its own weight, thus adding further items to the backpack could put an undue burden on our climber.

We always require the appropriate clothing, such as a jacket, gloves, and warm boots, on the climb to the top due to the harsh and unpredictable weather conditions. We also need to bring a number of other tools. The major focus of this is an ice axe (or two, preferably), which not only enables you to climb or cross ice-covered steep walls but also enables you to brake in the event that you lose balance and begin to fall into the abyss. Additionally, ropes and carbines are crucial.

We can secure specific sections of the route using fixed rope thanks to them; while this takes up important time, it frequently makes life simpler for us (especially if we decide to withdraw to one of the camps or are already descending to the base camp) or even saves our lives (e.g. protecting us from falling from a great height). Additionally, remember your crampons, which make moving around on ice simpler.

Even the most well-prepared climber, however, is unable to fully foresee the difficulties he will face on the ascent.

As we ascend, we run the risk of falling into an icy crevasse, being buried under an avalanche, or getting stranded in a snowstorm. While the avalanche can easily claim our lives, the snowstorm can be avoided by finding a place to set up a tent, provided we have one with us. Ascending at such a high altitude is very taxing, so it is also necessary to camp along the way and wait for weather windows, which are times when the mountainous terrain is conducive to climbing and allows, among other things, for regenerating.

If everything works out, we’ll succeed in our goal and climb to the top. However, we still need to go back to the base unscathed so that we can organise our upcoming excursion.
